Two worlds, one shield

Chapter 28: Catch up

Two weeks had passed since the banquet the Queen had made as an appreciation for the four cardinal heroes to risk themselves in protecting the city from the Three Heroes Church.

During this time, each hero and their respective party had gone to do separate things. Itsuki and his party had returned to hero work, with the Bow hero wanting to make a bigger name for himself after how things had gone during the fight against the Three Heroes Church. Motoyasu had decided to remain in the city to relax, wanting to think about everything that had transpired after he had spoken with Fitoria.

Wanting to clear his mind, he took the two weeks to rest in the city and contemplate on things while his party members decided to do whatever they wanted since they weren't going on missions.

This became a problem for Whore since she needed to pay all that she owed to the kingdom.

Having them not do anything would either force her to work on her own or to beg Motoyasu to go with her on some jobs.

For Ren's party and him, they had gone back to adventuring with one of the first stops being the village he had messed up in regards to the dragon.

He wanted to check on them and see if things had gotten better and if there's anything he and his party could do to best help.

And lastly Nafoumi and his party, they had gone back to traveling on the road. With all that had happened, they were going to take the chance to relax while also going back to merchant work.

Garfiel was pretty much bored the whole time since there wasn't a lot of action...though he didn't mind the long naps he would get during this time since they had worked hard in taking care of Princess Melty during the fiasco with the Three Heroes Church.

With the peaceful times coming through before the next wave comes in, Naofumi receives a letter from the Queen that she wants the cardinal heroes to return in order to have a meeting with them.

She also had sent a separate letter for Naofumi and Ren to return since the dragon hourglass was ready for them.

Being that for Ren, the only party member that hadn't gotten the upgrade was Tersia since she was protesting along with the Sword Hero on how unfair they were treating the Shield Hero.

As for the Shield Hero and his party, it was mainly thanks to the Three Heroes Church that he nor his party members were allowed to get the upgrade they needed.

This upgrade could've possibly made things easier when it came down to facing the Priest...though that's in the past now. It is what it is.

Seeing an opportunity to get the upgrades needed for their level cap issue, Naofumi and his party would be heading back to the capital of Melromarc.

It took them a day of travel before arriving at the capital right as the sun began to rise.

Naofumi and Garfiel were both asleep, resting all the while Raphtalia was in the front of the carriage with Filo in her filolial form pulling said carriage.

Once arriving, Raphtalia turned towards her sleeping master.

"Naofumi-sama?"

"Hm?" It didn't take him long to wake up, since he's always on guard even in his sleep.

He turned towards Raphtalia since that was the voice that called for him.

Upon looking at her, she smiled with Filo jumping right next to her in her human form to inform her master:

"Hey, we're here!"

Naofumi nodded before bumping his shoulder onto Garfiel in order to wake him up from his slumber.
