Divya's POV
"Leaving?" My coworker Shanon asked as I got my things from my cubicle.
"Yeah, got done earlier today, no extra hours on my first week." I said with a smile. My first week at my new job couldn't have been better despite my overall low excitement and high anxiety this past days.
"Good to hear honey, have a nice weekend." Shanon was my sort of my supervisor and had been showing me the ropes all week, but she was be the sweetest woman I've encountered in an office, she's fifty four and always tells me I remind her of her youngest daughter.
I've never worked for a newspaper before, but their payment package for the marketing department job I got offered was too good and so far I don't have any regrets for taking it.
"You too Shanon, bye." I said as I left and waited for the elevator. I checked my phone to only find texts from my groupchat with Jen, Kaden and Grace. They were talking about meeting at my apartment and ordering Chinese food and drink wine, which honestly sounded like the perfect plan for me.
I haven't heard much from Elizabeth since the last time I called her while I was drunk, next day she sent a few texts asking how was I feeling... I didn't get much after that. I knew I fucked up, I shouldn't have told her what happened, she's probably pissed, I could've had our arrangement blown if the wrong person saw me. I felt terrible and I can't lie and say I wasn't also disappointed... I really did think Elizabeth would show up at any point by now, knowing her. That's how I know I really fucked up.
I excited the elevator and walked through the maze-like parking lot in search of my car. Getting it once I found it I took my phone once again and debated whether or not I should text Elizabeth.
But the fear of bothering her won me over and decided I should just let her be. No need for me to look even more like an idiot than I already did.
Arriving home I was surprised to find my friends there before I was.
"Good to know the person who actually lives here is the last one to arrive." I said as I walked in.
Kaden turned her head from the couch and looked at me. "I live here too by the way."
"Wasn't talking to you." I put my things aways and went to join them.
"Aren't you a joy?" Jen said with a smirk and sarcasm, she already had a glass of wine on her hand, but the food had yet to arrive.
"Shut up Jen, how was work?" Grace was the one to surprisingly ask me.
"Good, I missed having something to do other than going to the gym and groceries." I served myself a glass of the wine that was on the coffee table. Kaden was going through movie options on Amazon Prime, so it'll be a while before we finally get to watch anything.
"Or going on escapades with your hot millionaire fiancée, who we haven't seen in a while... why's that?" Of course it was Jen that said that, she was never shy to ask anything.
"She's been busy, I saw her last week, but we both have work and tight schedules." At least now I do. That and she was probably avoiding me.
"There you go Jen now stop being so damn nosey." Kaden said still going through every movie in different streamings. Jen grabbed a cushion and launched it to her face as response.
"Okay before you two start beating each other up." Grace said grabbing the attention of all us and showed us a bag. "Who wants to smoke?"
"Bless your crazy ass." Jen said and took the bag from her the both of them went on to roll the joint on the coffee table.
