<Hope's p.o.v>

As I was fast-walking to my class, Corey spoke up.

"Um... Why are people staring at you?" He asked.

They're not. They're staring at you.

He frowned at my words.

"What do you mean 'staring at me'?"

I mean, your the new kid. Everyone is bound to stare.

He nodded slowly.

Just as I was about to walk into class, he spoke up again.

"Erm, Hope... Do you know where this room," He gestured to his planner, "Is?"

I nodded, and pointed toward the door I was about to walk into.

Its right here,

I wrote.

He nodded and entered the room with me.

It was completely empty.

I sat down at my desk right at the back of the classroom, not expecting him to follow.

But he did, and he sat right beside me.

My eyes widened in shock.

What are you doing?!

"Sitting beside you." He said slowly.

But why?

"Because your my friend." He told me.

I blushed slightly, but carried on writing.

Don't! It would be social suicide!

He frowned.

"I don't care. I pick my own friends."

I raised my eyebrows at him.

Then, the bell went for first lesson to start, and everyone piled in.

At first, they didn't acknowledge me, but then they noticed Corey sitting next to me.

Megan strutted up to him in her five-billion-inches-too-high high heels.

She held out a perfectly manicured hand.

"Hi. My name's Megan. What's yours?" She said, slightly too overconfident.

"Corey..." He said.

She smiled a sickly smile.

"Do you want to come and sit next to me?" She asked, shooting me a look.

I sank down further in my chair.

Corey slitted his eyes at Megan and glanced back to me.

"I'm already sitting here." He said. She laughed fakely.

"Trust me, you don't want to sit there. You might catch something." Corey raised his eyebrows.

"Well I haven't so far. Now if you'll excuse me, I can't see past your massive butt." He told her.

Her eyes practically bulged out of their sockets.

Nobody insulted Megan.

Once he said that, I snorted, but quickly covered it up with a cough.

"I don't know what your laughing about, mute. He's probably saying that so you don't start crying."

That shut me up.

I glared at Megan's back as she strutted away.

Corey turned to me.

"You okay?" He asked me.

I nodded my head without looking at him.

After that experience with Megan, he probably wanted nothing to do with me. And I wouldn't be surprised.

I mean, look at me;

Ugly, mute and broken.

I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote;

You know you can jut GI and sit with her. You'd probably prefer it. I mean, look at me compared to her.

Corey read the message and his eyes widened.

"You don't seriously think that, do you?!"

I looked at him and nodded as if it were obvious.

Hebshook his head and laughed a soundless laugh.

We start there in silence for a while.

Then Blake and Xavier walked in.

They were still laughing about some unheard joke.

Then Xavier's eyes met mine, and he walked over to the table.

He held his hand out to Corey.

"I believe your name is Corey. Right?" Corey nodded and grinned up at Xavier.

"And your Xavier. The dude who was with Hope when we met at the..." He trailed off, unsure what to say.

"Place." Xavier finished for him.

Corey nodded and smiled gratefully.

Xavier turned around and gestured to Blake.

"And this, is my idiot of a best friend; Blake." Balke curtseyed, and held his hand out to Corey.
