"He said he would be here. Stop saying that." Charlie clapped her hands over her ears even though she knew that what Michael was saying was probably true.
"He isn't coming back Charlie! Calum is gone!"
>>>>>>>>>Michael was right. Calum really was gone. And no one could tell you what had happened to him. Maybe Phoenix could, but he seemed to have disappeared the same time Calum did. Charlie was completely distraught and heartbroken now that Calum was nowhere to be seen or found. Calum's parents came home right away when they heard the news that their son was missing. They gave Charlie all of his records and boxed away all of the clothes (but not before Charlie didn't search thoroughly. I mean me as the narrator would raid his whole entire closet and wear all of his clothes for the rest of my life.)
Charlie sat in the middle of her new bed in the new apartment that Calum had bought for her and even though she was away from her crazy abusive mother, she still felt horrible. She was all alone in her new place. Charlie had to take the other puppy, and now both of the small underage dogs squirmed around in Charlie's lap but she wanted nothing to do with them at the dear moment.
To say that Charlie was upset was an understatement. Charlie was fucking pissed, heartbroken to the maximum level, betrayed beyond belief and confused. There were rumours going around during school spread. By students that didn't know anything about Calum and anything about the real story.
Some say that his parents had gotten so fed up with his reckless behaviour that they sent him away to a reform school to teach him a lesson for using some girl that he supposedly slept with. (Which was complete bullshit but that's all that high school students spout when they don't have the slightest clue about what happened.)
Others say that he had gone back home to Austrailia, which would be wishful thinking for Ashton,Luke and Michael.
But the majority of them all think the same thing. That Calum Hood was dead. Some said that they saw his body or blood near an alley where he was allegedly smuggling drugs. (Once again, bullshit.)
And as the school year dwindled down, so did all the rumours and crazy conspiracy theories on the very mystery that was the disappearance of Calum Hood. And Charlie was sick of it.
If Calum was murdered, whoever did it was an evil genius. His body couldn't be found anywhere. Which gave her hope that maybe, just maybe that Calum was still alive, smiling, breathing, singing, doing something other than being dead.
An intruder knocked on Charlie's front door and instead of ignoring them like she had for the past few weeks, she got up and answered it. The door swung back, revealing an overly excited Ashton, a chill looking Luke and a Michael with freshly dyed black hair. "Oh praise God. She's alive." Ashton slapped his cheeks in shock and let himself in engulfing her in a bone-crushing hug. He smelled like ocean spray and sandalwood. Charlie inhaled in his chest and swallowed back the tears that were trying way too hard to flow down her already wet cheeks. Charlie hugged Ashton tighter than she had ever hugged anyone in her entire life. "Charlie you can let go now."
"Calums gone." She whispered and took a deep breath.
Ashton pried her off of him before looking at her wild eyed and then exchanging glances with Luke and Michael. "What did you just say?"
No matter how many times they tried to tell her that Calum wouldn't be coming home, she would never listen and insist that he would be there any minute. Then she watched the door or the window. Then Charlie would watch a horrible sad movie and wear his clothes and listen to sad music. Then she would take painkillers to numb what she felt on the inside. Then they left. And then Charlie would cry herself to sleep.
This went on for 2 and a half months.
And she was putting an end to it.
"Calum is gone and he won't be coming back." Ashton turned to Luke who looked at Michael who stepped over the threshold and squeezed Charlie's hand.
"Charlie-"
"You guys are all I have left. Calum is gone. But that doesn't mean that I have to be as well." She somehow mustered a half smile and then looked at Luke who has been overly nice to her.
"Charlie. We know this is so late notice and that you probably only wanted to go with Cal. But tonight is prom." Luke started.
"And just because we are minus one friend doesn't mean that we can't have a kickass end of high school." Michael added and shrugged.
"So all 3 of us would like to ask you, Would you be so polite and accompany us in this mission of crashing prom?" Ashton's face grew a smile and even though he didn't go to high school that didn't mean he couldn't crash a prom.
And this was probably the one and only prank that Charlie Carters would perform in her entire life. The idea of crashing some lavish school dance with her best friends made her tingle with happiness and the idea took her mind off of Calum for a while. Besides, Ashton was right. Who says that you can't have a great end of high school just because of the shit that you were put through.
Charlie's high school experience was pure absolute hell but that didn't mean that her last few days had to end like that.
And so, her lips curled their way into a smile and she giggled and nodded her head going through with such a reckless operation. Just the way that Calum would.
(but seriously the end is almost over and I'm so sad because I had so much fun writing this fanfic. until next time freaks. xxx.)
