Calum had pretty much had it with Charlie's stubbornness and naïve ways. He would do whatever it takes to get her out of Carters estate. It wouldn't be easy but it's worth it. For the girl he loves. Her window was open just enough that Calum could tumble through. Charlie was sleeping peacefully with her neon purple caste. Calum shook his head in anger. "You're a fucking bitch Mrs. Carters."
He shook Charlie's shoulder waking her up so she could be aware of her escape plan. "Char. Open your eyes because I'm not putting up with any shit right now." Charlie groaned as she turned on her side at Calum's seriousness.
"What time is it?"
"10 pm."
"That's like the middle of the night." Charlie closed her eyes again.
"Charlie. I'm getting you out of here. Pack your bags."
"Where are we going?"
Calum just half smiled at her sleepiness and took out a suitcase from her closet. "I seriously need you to pack your stuff."
"What's wrong?"
"What's wrong is that your too scared to leave this house even though your mom abuses you like crazy. You haven't been keeping me in the dark Charlie. This is serious. Why haven't you told anyone."
"Because its embarrassing."
"Yeah for her."
"And for me too."
"How so?"
"I don't wanna be that girl that's known for her mom beating her."
"It just goes to show that there is something psychologically wrong with your mother. What makes its okay for her to beat you almost daily." Calum looked at Charlie finally. She didn't have an answer. She had never though she would need an answer. Why did he care for her so much. There wasn't anything special about her. What did Calum see in her.
"It-It's not okay." Charlie shook her head and whispered remembering that her mom was home. If she came in here not only would Charlie be in serious trouble but knowing her mothers ruthlessness she would probably beat Charlie in front of Calum.
"Exactly." Calum pinched the bridge of his nose at Charlie's childishness. "Just come on baby. We're getting you out of here." Calum looked around as Charlie finally sighed and climbed out of her bed.
"Please be quiet. She might come in here." Charlie peeked at her door and then back to Calum obviously paranoid.
"Chill. It's not like you were choking on my-" Charlie put her finger to his lips and shushed Calum of his crude words.
"Seriously stop. It's not cool and it's not cute."
"But you think it's sexy?" Calum placed his hands on her hips and pulled her waist towards his making her wince oh so smally.
"I think we should stick to the plan of packing. We're supposed to be getting me out of here remember?"
"Well it's your clothes. You aren't coming back her for a few days."
"Are you seriously forbidding me from coming back to my own house?" Charlie couldn't blame Calum. It's not like she wanted to be here with her crazy mom. She would rather be dead than wait until graduation to move out.
"It's not forbidding if I'm letting you back whenever you need and/or want. Now stop talking and pack your bags. Calum let go of Charlie and watched her move quickly in and out of her closet piling clothes and shoes and other such items in her bag. Not a good 10 minutes later, she was finished and scaled down the side of her house. But that couldn't have been the worse time to escape. Charlie's window was right above the side driveway. And apparently, Charlie and Calum could've made all the noise they wanted. Mrs.Carters wasn't home until now.
The headlights blinded the both of them and they had a mere 30 seconds before they were both in big trouble. "You said that she was home."
"I thought she was."
"Next time do a better job at knowing your facts."
"I was asleep you idiot. How am I to know who's home and who isn't." Charlie pushed on his chest in a complete panic mode. "Calum you have to go."
"I'm not leaving here without you." Her moms cars headlights flashed off.
"Yes you are." Charlie argued with Calum. In the end she would win because she wouldn't want to see a bloody massacre. "Go. Now."
"But Charlie. She's gonna murder you if I leave. I have to fight back. You can't stay here without me."
"Charlotte you need to get inside. Now. " the bitch itself spoke with power and there was no fighting with her.
"Yes Mother." And so,Charlie surrendered herself to whatever was in store for her. And Calum just stood there. He knew that there was absolutely nothing he could've done. He would make the whole situation ten times worse. Charlie walked back inside her house waiting to be hit with something.
"That was Calum Hood wasn't it Charlotte."
"Yes Mother."
"And what were you planning on doing."
"He is concerned for my safety. And he was going to take me away from here." Charlie spoke trying to remain calm but also expect something to abuse her skin.
"Haha. He actually thought he had a chance." Charlie took a deep breath gaining some strength before breaking into a million pieces. Her arm was already broken wasn't that enough damage? Apparently not. Because someone really pissed Mrs.Carters off that night. And she took all her anger out on Charlie. There would be more than just light skin abrasions this time.
Looks like the escape plan didn't go so well.
