It could be useful for getting to higher ground but transporting it would be an issue. Beside that was a table smothered in ammunition, with a khakri knife hiding just among the shotgun shells. Derek grabbed the khakri without hesitation and flicked it across his finger, rubbing his thumb on the edge. "Could come in handy.." he whispered to himself, sliding it once more in a circle motion and putting it on his utility belt. He then took a firm hold of the lever on the door and tried turning it, but it would not budge. A second time, some progress, but not far enough. He tried pushing it the other way. Bad idea. He turned to look at the two men, "Liam, Nate, one of you give me a hand with this?" "I would, but I've found some... things, could be expensive," murmured Liam, but Nate nodded and walked on over to help. They both grabbed sides of the lever and pushed as hard as they could, but it only went half way. They both backed up and took deep breaths, "How do we get this thing open?" ".. I'm not sure, but look around, we've come this far," said Nate. Nate went to another room where the dead body was, and searched it for loot while Liam continued stealing his "expensive items." Derek scanned the room precisely for tools to use to open the door, and suddenly it hit him.
He rushed over to the ladder and grunted as he turned it sideways and held it under his shoulder. Nate and Liam turned at the grunt and exchanged glances, unsure of what Derek was thinking at the time. Without a moment's notice, Derek raised the ladder up and rammed it into the lever, instantly knocking the lever off and unlocking the door. A loud thump sounded and echoed across the entire building, which the building returned shrieks of more undead. "Shit.. I think we just told everyone where we were. We've got to go, and fast," Derek said as Liam and Nate stopped their looting and followed Derek into the emergency room. Liam and Nate looked left and right while Derek looked in front. It was filled with hi-tech equipment. "There she is," Liam and Nate both said in unison as Derek rushed over to the unconscious cadet, covered in debris from the ripped ceiling, "Kaleigh," he whispered, eyes widened as he picked her up from under her legs and looked over to Liam. "Wait a minute.. what did you find over there, back in the infected room?" Liam was facing the opposite direction, looking for things to take until he stopped in his tracks and looked up at the ceiling, slowly turning to Derek with an aggravated look on his face, "I found... the key, inside one of the chests," he knew he couldn't keep a secret from Derek, not anymore, not like last time. He reached from under his jacket and took out a golden key, with a star on the end of it. Nate walked over to Liam and extended a hand, "hand it over, Liam." Liam scoffed and plopped it into Nate's hand, who nodded to Derek and turned to the largest corridor. "Alright, forget about this, just use that key. We've got to get inside Blackwell."
