Things were going smooth for Derek and Kaleigh, meanwhile things started getting goofy with Liam and Nate. Nate and Liam have always been closer friends to each other. "Not a man who's dumb enough to think a zombie would be walking around with a flashlight," Liam chuckled as he said, Nate rolling his eyes again. "So?" "Soooo, that means people are going to see us faster. Or, just you faster. To be honest I prefer them seeing you first, that way I got a five second head start to get the hell out of here." "Don't worry, you don't need this flashlight, you can just smile so we can see you." "Hey, that's racist!" "You're racist." "You're face is racist." "Really? Are we really doing this right now?" "..No." "Keep moving and keep your racist jokes to yourself please." "Deal." They continued traveling for about a good long hour, getting lost, going in circles, arguing about flashlights and skin colors, getting lost again, fighting, apologizing, and going in circles until they finally reached the ladder. "Finally," said Liam. Nate nodded. "This is where we last saw Derek right?" Nate asked, "But where's Kaleigh? Did he take her with him?" "How would he manage that, he doesn't have four arms," Liam said. "I told you, he traversed the ledge and slid onto the stairs. I was going to go find him but I had to look for you." "Well I was lookin' for you, you should've gone with Derek or else we wouldn't be seperated in this first place!" "Now's not the time for the blame game, we got to think of where to go next." Liam shook his head in disbelief and looked down on the ground. Nate thought long and hard about where Derek could have gone, and he saw a tiny spec below the stairs in the distance. It was the raft. "Hey, Liam! Follow me, they could be here." They did the same maneuver that Derek accomplished, traversing the ledge and shimmying down to the raft. They saw the rug and foot prints of what were Derek and Kaleigh. "Something tells me they went to the left." "What tells you that?" "These footprints." Liam squinted and looked down at the ground. "Dude, I can barely see that." "I know, I can barely see it either, it's so small.. can't feel a thing." "Shut up, dirty minded little.." "... Wow, okay." Nate laughed.
"So is this your backup plan? Exploring?" Kaleigh asked, looking over at Derek. "If you could think of something more INTELLIGENT and GENIUS than that please tell me." "Gosh, no, I was just asking you if that was the plan." "Oh. Well yeah, it is." Kaleigh nodded and mumbled, "Not a very good one." "What was that?" "Nothing." "Heh, well if plan A isn't good enough, there's twenty five more letters in the alphabet, so get your hopes up." "Wow, that was deep." "You know what else is deep?" "... These sewers." "Yeah, exactly what I was thinking." They went up the stairs, climbed up the wooden slope, but Kaleigh slipped. Being the idiot in tin foil as he was, Derek grabbed Kaleigh and pulled her up, saving her from getting wet in the sewer oil. "I'm a hero." "I bet Batman would've helped me up AND dry me off." "How would I do that?" "You're full of hot air, think of something." "Wow, that was so bad." "You're bad." "Your face is bad." "Really? Are we really doing this right now?" "... No." "Good."
"Hey, did you hear that? I think I just heard a squeak from over there," Liam said, looking over at where Kaleigh had slipped. "Probably just a rat, come on, we got to find them." "Nah nah.. you know what, maybe it's best if we split up." "Are you crazy? We just tried to find each other and you just want to lose each other again?" "Well.. I know it sounds crazy, but we will find them faster if we split up." "Have you ever watched scary movies? Or even Scooby Doo for instance, the ones that split up always end up dying. Well, getting frightened the most. Like you're Scooby.. and.. I'm Shaggy, we don't fucking split up." Liam just stood there in complete utter disbelief and said, "And I'm the crazy one." "Yes. Yes you are." "I'm still going to find out what that squeak was." "No you're not-" by the time Nate said that, Liam was already gone. "Christ sake."
"Guys! Guys, Nate I found them!" "Liam, hey! Over here!"
