Picture of Alpha Wyatt Sailt

I watched as the buildings flew by at the speed we were going. It wasn't like I wanted to go any faster, because getting to school on time was the last thing on my mind. However, if I was late for practice in training after school, the coach would have been on my back again, regardless of the endless warnings he'd gotten.
And then there was Paige, who would probably be annoying me for the rest of the day if I didn't growl at her.
And also, there was Dale. Not exactly who I'd want to bump into when Paige's feelings were all over the place. I knew she suspected I was into him, and that best-friends had a code, not to date your other friend's crushes. I mean, come on, this was more common in boys.
What did she think? Were we a tomboy squad? Her actions were what someone would call 'jumping to conclusions.'
I slammed my locker shut and zipped my coat tighter to prevent any cold from getting in and meandered through the maze of students in the halls. It wasn't that bad since all of them were emitting heat so it did warm me up a bit. I found myself slowing down to enjoy the natural body heaters.
"Hey," someone called. I cringed at the recognisable voice. And there was Dale and his friends trailing behind him in my direction. I tried not to show my discomfort.
"Hey. What's up?" I asked, looking around for any signs of Paige approaching. I didn't want an argument to commence this early morning, otherwise, a scene.
"Oh, I just saw you walking down the hall... alone." He paused. "So I thought I would just walk by to say hello. I mean, we are kind of friends now. Right?" Friends? It was just one night! I felt my left eye twitch.
"Um sure," I replied, suppressing a grimace as I began to walk backward. Friends after one night. This guy did move fast. "Uh, I have to go now, I'll see you later," I hurriedly said, picking up speed with my feet.
"Okay?" he frowned and stared in confusion at me as I hastily tried widened the gap between us. I made sure to drop in a quick smile before disappearing behind a wall. I walked briskly to the nearest classroom and let out a deep breath of relief as I slammed my stuff down on a random desk. I needed something to take my mind off all the confusion. So I pulled out some of my school books and flipped through the pages without reading a single sentence until my breath evened out.
That is until I heard someone clearing their throat to get my attention. I looked up and there was Paige's head peeping through the doorway with a blank expression. Oh, brother, I thought.
"What are you up to?" she pipped excitedly as she came closer.
"Studying."
"Studying? For what?"
"For an exam... What kind of question is that?"
"We don't have any exams for the month, and you only study the day before an exam," she smirked. I did not.
"Is this your way of trying to annoy me?"
"Probably." She pulled a nearby chair and ruffled my neatly brushed hair into a bird's nest. I took a deep breath, my left eye twitched... again.
"You know, both of us are still human. But I'm stronger than you," I said. Paige narrowed her eyes.
"Where are you going with this?" I narrowed my eyes to slits.
"I can easily strangle you if I want and I feel myself being pressured to do it every time you come near me." My voice rose at the last part. Paige tilted her head to one side with her signature wry look.
"I thought I heard a challenge." I frowned. I intended to threaten her, not engage her in some physical altercation.
"No, I didn't-"
"Oh yes! I heard a challenge!" Paige bolted from her chair to stand, which sent it flying to the back of the room. "I accept, and I'm going to beat you before you can even touch a hair on my neck."
"No, stop it. Sit down."
"Nope." She popped the 'P' with her dulcet lips.
"Paige!" I yelled as she began to walk away. My voice echoed against the walls of the empty class and she stopped in her tracks with her back facing me. She slowly turned to face me with a serious expression.
"I'll see you at lunch."

Paige wasn't herself today. She was everywhere, trying to get a stupid growl. Sure she was trying to help me connect, and that was great and all but I was dreading it now. I was pretty sure all the other wolves out there didn't have to go through that.
She didn't even seat next to me for lunch. She instead, sat a few tables away, occasionally throwing bread crumbs in my direction, and was making it rather obvious that they were coming from her.
Lunch continued like that for the next few minutes.
I even considered hiding in the bathroom for the rest of the time, just to avoid killing Paige. My thoughts were interrupted by a screeching from the intercom's speakers that were distributed evenly among the halls of the school and the cafeteria as well.
"Sam to the office," the voice of the school's principal echoed. "Sam to the principal's office."
I stood up from my seat and gave Paige a hard smile before walking to whatever was in store for me. It wasn't long before I approached the large red door and opened it to greeted by the presence of the principal in his large chair and the back of a man facing me in the smaller chairs on the other side of the desk.
I frowned, wondering who it was, until he turned and I realized it was Alpha Wyatt.
"Is this Samantha?" he asked curtly voice, glancing at me with a blank expression. I wasn't sure whether he was angry or not.
"Yes," I answered for myself, also a tad nervous.
"Well then," he continued, turning his whole body towards me. "We need to have a serious chat." He patted the chair next to him.
