I fell in line with the large bodies of the warriors in front that led the way. They were the first line of defense. I glanced behind at the Alpha as he walked in sync with Smith and the others. They seemed calm, but I, on the other hand, was frightened, although I sought nothing but vengeance.
Soon, we reached the borders of the enemy's territory and everyone dispersed into groups as was planned before. I was on the same group with the Alpha, Smith, and Gabriel. They wanted to keep a close eye on me. Probably to keep me under control if something were to happen.
"Stay behind us," Smith instructed as we crossed the borders. Gabriel was to stay in human form while the others shifted into their wolves, running along the forest bed and into the outskirts of the pack land. I nodded in agreement and soon, we were at the same entrance. The small building booth was shattered to pieces as if some tornado had raged through there. Something else had visited this place.
I felt the Alpha tense near me, sniffing the air and staring at Smith with his wide brown eyes.

"Something's wrong," Gabriel noted, glancing at his father intently. He suddenly took a hold of my hand, the warmth radiating from his, calming mine slightly, but not enough to slow down my heartbeat. Before I knew it, we were running back to the same path that led back to our home. I closed my eyes for a split second, trying to grasp the matter that we'd just run into an ambush. Did we? I wasn't even sure since no one had uttered a word. Actions were the only thing they used as communication. What were we running away from?
We hadn't gotten far once I noticed someone leaning along one of the trees, a figure against the darkness, quite hard to make out who it was.
"Stop right there!" it called as we got closer to it, holding out a hand to express its seriousness. Gabriel faltered a bit, coming to a sudden halt as he stared at the figure. It soon came out into the moonlight, revealing ginger brown curls and hard chestnut eyes that stared at us intensely.
Gabriel placed a hand on my shoulder, shoving me behind him a bit, a growl escaping his lips. I raised a brow at the circumstance but remained silent.
"What are you doing here Carlos?" he asked a bit irritated. I was just struck by the fact he knew the stranger that stood there.
"What did you expect? Your father sought to bring nothing but havoc to my family!" the figure replied with resenting eyes. I blinked twice, not being able to process the matter before me.
"Excuse me, do you two know each other?" I asked, a bit hoarse at the moment. Both heads turned to me at once. I wished I hadn't opened my mouth.
"Hmmm." Carlos looked thoughtful. He looked me up and down a few times before facing Gabriel with a grin. "You haven't told her?" His smirk widened when Gabriel remained silent, casting his eyes to his feet. I frowned in confusion, not even having a chance to answer, as I felt cold arms wrap around my waist, pulling me closer into the darkness.
"What are you doing?" Gabriel called as his shadow grew further and further away. It was then I realized that I was being taken. Carlos ran faster than anything I've ever seen before, and within a lapse of two minutes, we were in an old warehouse, isolated in the middle of the forest. I was roughly thrown unto a disgusting cushion. Gabriel was nowhere to be seen.
I half-expected someone to jump out of the shadows, but only the branches of the trees moved softly outside, in the damp air.
"Hello?" I called after what seemed like forever. The only sound present was the squeaking of mice in the distance. It was apparent that Carlos had dumped me here and wandered off. More like ran off. I stumbled to my feet, trying my best to see through the darkness. The only light came from the frame where a door should have been. If there wasn't anyone around, I might as well leave.
"Don't move," a voice threatened. I halted in my steps, the fear rising from my bones as I tried to find the source of the sound; a relaxed chuckle followed it. "What's the matter?"
"Who are you?" I asked.
"Don't worry. The time would come where you'd get all your questions answered," the voice replied. "But for now, you just stay here. I think you'd need it."
