Chapter Twenty

Denis POV

Months had gone by and I could already see improvement in Ben it's like he's gone back to his eating pattern. Part of me still worries if he's going to go through a rebound again.

He seems more happy and more lively again. I missed it when he was like this.  I was alone in the house at the time. I got a phone call.

Looking at my phone I saw it was an unknown number that I haven't seen before. Hesitating I answered the phone "hello?" I asked nervously.
"Hi...um...Denis right?" Asked a very familiar voice.

"Yeah?"
"It's Danny"
My eyes widened with surprise why would Danny be calling me?
"You're probably wondering why I'm calling you but I need to speak to you...about Ben can we meet somewhere?" He asked.

"Um....yeah sure where do you wanna meet?" I asked nervously.
"Well there's a bar close to Ben's apartment we could meet there" he suggested.
"Oh sure I'll be round in a bit" I said before hanging up. My mind began to wonder what was going on. Why did Danny call me? My mind began to worry.

I walked down the street entering the bar. I searched around until I saw Danny in the corner on a table. Quickly I hurried over before sitting down.
"You wanted to see me?" I asked nervously.

"Y-yeah I did" he responded nervously too rubbing his hands on his thighs.
"I heard about Ben..going through a rebound is he ok?" He asked.
"Yeah he's fine he seems like he's gone back to his normal self again" I responded.

He nodded his head "good"
"Why did you call me here Danny?" I asked.

"Look I know that you guys have only been dating for half a year and I know You are really important to Ben" he spoke. Was he going to force me to break up with Ben?

"I want you to have this" he said grabbing my hand placing something in it. I opened my hand to see a simple silver ring. Engagement ring?

"I've had this ring in my room for years because when me and Ben used to get drunk we used to go to jewellery shops and talk about what we want our wedding rings to be...and he picked out this one" he explained.
"Danny I can't do that if it holds memories" I responded.

"It's fine please just keep it and whenever you guys are ready please use this ring...you deserve him I don't" he continued.
"Thank you" I muttered before standing up pulling him into a hug.
"I promise I'll use this not sure when but I promise" I spoke.

As we pulled away Danny gave me a soft smile. "I hope you can find someone one day too" I said before leaving the bar with the ring in my hand.

I walked back into the apartment placing my keys, phone and the ring onto the counter as I walked into our bedroom to change into new clothes.

I listened to her the front door open "Denis I'm home!" Called Ben as I heard him walk in.
"Did you mi-" stopped Ben.

Oh shit! I realised I left the ring on the counter with my keys and stuff. I walked into the living room to see Ben's eyes wide holding the ring between his fingers.

"Denis what's this?
