..the privilege... the White Palace... all wasted... the blinding light... plagues their dreams...
"You must be worried about her." Barsil snapped you out of your inner turmoil. "Don't be, it's not your fault."
It somehow feels like it was. Your existence could very well prevent this, the purpose of your creation was to block those dreams.
"Durlen has always been very competitive, ambitious to a fault." Barsil continues, "When you achieved a once in a lifetime opportunity, everyone thought you'd move to the White Palace. It's just difficult to accept, that you let all of that go, just to come in this passive part of Hallownest."
...that privilege... wasted!..
"It's upsetting, yes, but it's not your fault." Barsil said. "It's not our place to make those decisions for you."
Yes, it wasn't your responsibility of how people react to your choices, but it was part of your purpose to prevent those kinds of sickness from happening. So, it is still kind of your fault...
You decided not to think more on that as you all see Ambush limped through the entrance of the Lake of Unn.
"Sir Morlan!" Ah, so that's his real name. You're still going to call him Ambush.
All student flocked towards him in worry, as a Moss Knight steadied him.
"Are you alright?"
"Where's Durlen?"
You could barely remember the entire interaction, but that was your best guess of how it went. You simply saw a few students ran over at the Cave entrance, presumably to check up on Durlen, while Ambush continued to limp towards the temple.
As much as you were consumed by the guilt of your inaction regarding Durlen's condition, you were just ashamed to leave the knight fight against a sickly disease alone. So, you decided to check on him.
When you entered the temple, you were met with the Higher Being, Unn, tending to his wounds.
Ambush was the first to notice you, "I'm pretty sure you got here before me, I assumed that mean damage you took would've been fixed up by now." He said, ever so casually. As if he didn't just walk into this temple at the verge of collapse.
"Ah, child." Unn finally took notice of you, "I do remember that you still have much to catch up in our lesson."
"Wait, he does?" Ambush seemed surprised with this information.
"Why, yes. Motty didn't learn to heal as quickly as the others." Unn said. "Come sit, child. I'm sure you've had an eventful day, maybe you've learned a few things or two in your journey."
You took a seat at the same spot you did from yesterday.
"Wow, kid." Ambush comments. "You joined us on that trip without the ability to heal, do you realize how dangerous that is?"
Dangerous, right, but your shell was meant to survive the void, is it not? So what exactly could be considered dangerous to a vessel?
"Now, child, I need you to focus. Relax your body and connect with your inner shell." Unn said. "In order to heal, you must know where you are hurt."
...
Where you are hurt... as if you haven't been trying to heal the hairline crack on your shell. Unless, it's your inner shell that's wounded.. The Void.
..ive...ough..mem..fus..ves..oid...sou....
That was a part of the voices in your head, it was all but gibberish and incomprehensible. There was no way to discern it into something coherent.
