"So, you can cure the infection now?" Mato asked, which you responded with a nod. "Interesting."
"Isn't it!?" Lucius exclaimed, "Dad was sooo- eager to get then to work with him in the hospital. Then Mom got mad at Dad, and they started fighting!" He said with an ever so eager gleam in his eyes, as if the topic of parents fighting was the coolest thing ever.
"Do you want to work in the clinic, Motty?" Mato asked, being the first to actually ask your opinion. Which you only shrugged in response.
"Don't worry Motty, both of our parents will support whatever decision you make!" Lucius reassured, with a thumbs up "Dad will support you if you work in the clinic, and Mom will support you if you don't support the clinic! So, you don't worry about what you choose."
You stared blankly at Lucius, wondering if he secretly wants his parents to break up. Why is he so excited at every possibility that would cause them to fight. Or is your brother just that adorable and naive.
"Oh, we should probably get going, before the next bell cycle rings" Mato stood and began cleaning up the arena. Lucius stood up to help him, as you all cleaned up the mess you all made.
When you were done, you bid sweet farewells to each other, while Mato simply nodded at you. You walked quietly with Lucius, while he chattered endlessly beside you. He's always been a ray of sunshine, never running out of breath from his ideas.
You hadn't really envisioned your life spent working in the clinic. You wanted to live in Dirtmouth, yes, but not really as a healer. You may not have remembered experiences in your human life, but it probably has nothing to do with being a medical professional. However, you're not opposed of the idea to try. It might be nice to have something tying you down to it.
Arriving at the house, Lucius announced your presence. Which ignited your 50 siblings to run up towards you.
"Motty, can you teach us the healing?"
"Pleaseeeee!"
"Teach us! Please!"
You heart melted at the sheer admiration they had for you, they are and always will be your best cheerleaders. It would be nice for this village to have more healers.
"I wanna be like Dada!"
"Working in the clinic sounds really cool, right??"
They chattered as you took them to the playroom, then you pulled out your journal from your inventory. While you wrote about the creatures of this world, you also documented the things you encountered. Like how certain cultures work, the system, and all the little details that people often overlooked.
"Motty coolest! Fix owees!"
"It would be nice to be a healer.."
You turned to the specific page on the journal, one that talked about FOCUS. It would've been easy to share this knowledge, there's only one problem..
None of the people in the village knew how to read.
"What's that?" One of your siblings asked, probably never seen a book in their life. The one your holding must've been a weird device for them.
How in the world are you suppose to teach them? You really didn't have a voice to give them some proper instructions..
You stored the book into your inventory, then looked at one of your siblings. This one had some cut and bruises on their shell, one of the littles that loves to play. Dr. Esme is often left to their wounds once they get home, and the little sibling would always come back with new ones.
You sat down to their level, taking their hands onto yours. The rest of your siblings took that as a sign to sit around you in a circle, conditioned to behave from your Mom's strict discipline..Then you focused. You let your magic swirl around your sibling, showing them what healing looked like, how it felt like.
The bond with your siblings.. was magic in its own. They've always had a way of understanding you without you having to utter a single word. It was as if you gave them the clearest instructions anyone ever gave them, as someone immediately activated FOCUS.
When you released your focus, only the magic of your sibling remained. You watched the sibling at your hand, as their little cuts and bruises began to fade. Their magic tingling in your senses as they learned to heal themselves.
You turned to the rest of your siblings, and found that some of them already picked up on the demonstration. Each glowing in their own energy, as they stood out from the crowd. It wasn't until you felt the magic dissipating that you turned back to the sibling in front of you.
All their small injuries was gone, as if they weren't even there in the first place.
There was a moment of silence as all the energies in the room died down. Your little sibling stared at you blankly, before they leaned forward. You barely managed to catch them into your arms as they collapsed, you didn't realize that it would affect them that much.
You pulled your siblings into your lap, as you watched them regain their strength. Your other siblings did the same for their siblings in the crowd, as they supported their siblings when they collapsed after exhausting their energies.
"Woah.."
You turned to the door at the playroom, there stood Lucius and the doctor looming behind him. There was an awe in their faces.
During dinner, your siblings talked about how you taught them how to Focus. How they translated your silent instructions and followed them.
Meanwhile, you're two parents were tense and quiet, as if having a silent argument with their eyes. Before Dr. Esme broke that silence, "If Motty works at the clinic, they could-"
"I don't think Motty wants to work in the clinic, my dear." Your mother cuts him off immediately.
"But my love-"
"Motty has already shown us the kind of profession they chose to pursue." Your mother said, calm and collected. "If you haven't noticed, they have already started that profession."
"Which is..?"
"Teaching." The doctor paused, as he stared at his wife in shock. "They have already done it in the school, now they are doing it to their siblings. After they returned with literacy, it won't be long that they will be teaching everyone how to write."
"I understand..." Dr. Esme sighs, before turning to one of your little siblings. "I guess I'll have to wait for the rest of my children for one of them to follow in my footsteps." He tickled them, making the bug child squirm in laughs.
That was what became of your routine. Going to school as a student trainer, then hanging out with Mato and Lucius, before ending the day with a healing session with your siblings. It was nice being able to occupy your time at home with something, to spend your time with your siblings like this.
How you desperately wish this was your true family.
