I'm Not That Girl(Maya/Lucas/Riley)

Chapter 9. The Subway.

Maya's POV-

I looked throughout my closet onto what to wear,I finally settled down on a bright red dress.

Red was a favourite colour of mine,Along with blue...But Lucas,sadly,happened to like the same colours as myself.

Oh well.

Tonight was hopefully going to be a night to remember, But I highly doubted it.

Maybe a night to remember for Riley and Lucas,But it Certainly wasn't going to be for me,Or Josh for that matter.

Josh kept using the three year excuse on me,A lot,He'd promise me earlier on he'd try hard to make are date look realistic but I somehow knew that he was going to pull the three year excuse on me,as he always did.

After I had got ready I had decided to text Riley,Lucas had given me her number a while back,I texted her ,hoping we could be friends.

[M-Maya / R-Riley]

Hey-M

Who is this?-R

It's Maya,Lucas gave me your number.-M

Uh...why?-R

I think he was hoping we could become friends.-M

Uh,Sure.-R

After that I decided not to reply,I didn't exactly like her type of tone whilst texting me.

Lucas's POV-

Tonight I was going on a 'date' with Riley,and Maya was going on one with Riley's Uncle Josh.

I thought Josh didn't like her,Afterall, he kept using the three year excuse on her.

I hated my best friend being used like this,But I never said anything, She'd either think I was jealous or just wanted to ruin there 'relationship'.

I wasn't jealous.. I couldn't be,Maya was my best friend,nothing more...
Being jealous was impossible.

I didn't want to ruin there relationship..

I just wanted Maya to be happy,There's no crime in that,is there?

After a while of thinking about the situation I felt a vibrate on my phone,It was hopefully Maya.

I checked my caller I.D,It wasn't Maya,It was Riley, She wanted to speak to me.

"Hello?", I spoke into the phone.

" Why did you give Maya my phone number? ",Said Riley sternly, I hadn't heard her speak like this before,and already I couldn't stand it.

" So you two could be friends,Why?",I asked her.

"I don't want YOU giving my phone number to people without MY permission!!!!!", She yelled down the phone,I definitely didn't like her attitude now.

" Sorry!I haven't given it to anyone else,Only Maya.",I replied back to her,"What's wrong with me giving her your number? "

"What's wrong with it?I didn't ask you to!", She continued to yell.

" Woah!Chill!I thought it would be cool with you",I replied sharply.

"Calm down Riley", I heard Josh whisper to her in a calm voice,but it mustn't have been calm enough.

" I'm trying Josh, I'm trying...",Said Riley down the phone,taking deep breaths.

Why would she have to take deep breaths down the phone?What did she have against Maya anyway?

"Uh...I've gotta go,See you later on the date,you can meet me and Maya at the subway.", I said immediately, I hoped it would end the awkwardness of the conversation.

" Yeah,Me and Josh will meet you there,Bye",She replied back,before quickly hanging up on me.

Woah,Great conversation.
Note the sarcasm.

There was something about Riley,Which wasn't all rainbows and sunshines to me.
[Note that Riley is a good character as the story goes on c: ]

But I was probably just exaggerating.

I decided to ring Maya,Just to check if Riley had been funny with Maya to.

"Yo Hart?",I spoke.

She answered my call," Hey Huckleberry ,How are ya doing?"

"Good,I'll be picking you up in ten minutes or less", I smiled to myself.

" Great,Well I'll see ya then",Said Maya hanging up on me.

Great,Maya hadn't given me the chance to even ask her about the whole Riley situation.

I guess I could always ask her when I go to pick her up,Right?There's a chance then.

But Maya always bottled things up,But perhaps she'd open up to me,Afterall we're best friends.

She'd have to tell me how she felt eventually, Feelings can't stay hidden forever.

Can they?

Josh's POV-

[This is a slight time skip so...]

Me and Riley waited patiently for both of are "dates" to arrive at the subway.

Eventually they arrived,Maya was wearing a stunning ruby red dress with some cowboy boots....,Why cowboy boots?
And Lucas was wearing a suit,Which Riley had been hoping he would do.

"Woah,Maya you look...great", I smiled charmingly at her.

Maya smiled weakly at me,But to my surprise Lucas began to scowl at me.

" Looks aren't everything",He muttered under his breath,"You should love her everything, not just her appearance. "

I pretended that he had said nothing and looked up to see when the next train was coming on the subway.

Maya kept giving Lucas worried glances every so often,And Riley stayed her usual happy self.

Whereas I,I honestly didn't no how to feel.

Angry at Lucas?No,He did have a point.
Looks aren't everything.

Upset with Maya that she was taking interest in Maya?I wouldn't call it interest Considering she looked worried about him,It was probably a friendly gesture, Considering all friends worried about each other,Don't they?

*NEXT SUBWAY COMES IN APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE*

"Hey,Maya", I smiled," The subway comes in one minute, Wanna sit next to me?"

At first when I mentioned the one minute part she looked at me as if I was an idiot, Of course she knew that the subway came in one minute, the Loud speaker said so.

As my face went red with embarrassment Maya replied back to me,"Sure,I'd love to Josh."

Lucas sighed But then grinned at Riley,"Hey Riley,Wanna sit next to ME on the subway? "

Riley smiled sweetly at him In reply,"I'd be honoured",Said Riley linking her arm with Lucas's as the train began to arrive on the subway.

A/N

I tried to make it as long as possible,Despite my sprained arm,Updates will be slow Considering I can't write to well.

And yes,Riley will be good,As I don't want to write a story where she's bad natured.
