Buuuuuut I used that quote especially since according to some people ,That's what Maya say's to Lucas in 'Girl Meets Texas',But Idk.
Lucas's POV-

Maya was staying over ,Although we decided to contact her mother later on.

Maya seemed deeply upset about this,But so did I,I should have been happy about moving,But I'm not.

I remembered once when we were in class,We had gotten paired up with Riley,And Farkle.

-Flashback/Or memory, Idk you decide-

"Do we have to have Lucas in the group?" Riley complained,Luckily Lucas was asking the teacher some questions so he didn't hear what Riley had to say.

"I guess we do." Farkle frowned. "Doing the project with him will be a dull life."

"Hey!" Maya yelled sharply,Catching everyone's attention in the room,Including Lucas's. "I couldn't stand a world without Lucas. You just have to except that HE'S in are group."

Riley and Farkle nodded Nervously at Maya before she said anything else ,They seemed frightened by her feisty behavior.

-Flashback /Memory over-

I had remembered that as if it was yesterday, Maya was always there for me,Even or when people didn't want me around,She had always did want me.

I took Maya for granted ,I was oblivious to what she did for me ,I only ever knew what she did when I was actually thinking about it.

"Maya..." I said curiously. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure." Said Maya. "What do you want to ask me,Exactly?"

"I wanted to ask...,Why do you stick up for me?Why do you stay friends with me even though I'm oblivious half the time for what you do for me,An-"

"Lucas.I don't choose to stick up for you." Maya replied back to me."I do it without caution,Without thinking about anything,I stick up for you automatically, That's just what friends do."

I smiled at her. "Best friends,Don't you mean?"

She smiled back right at me. "Best friends, Yes.I do it because I know you'll do the same for me too."

I stared at her after that ,She stared back not saying anything. I hadn't had a clue on how caring she could be,Despite her teasing me most of the time,Deep down she was a really caring person,No one could tell me otherwise,She was the most sweet,Caring,Person I knew.

I didn't want to lose her.Ever.

But from this moment onwards I made myself a promise. When I'm to return back to New York (Well I think that's where gmw is set but Idk Soooo) I would be a better person,I would be here for Maya.
It was clear that she was the only one here for me,No matter what,She was here for me,I was here for her.
Even when we faced difficult challenges like today,Even when she begged me to stay,We would always stay friends.

I then snapped out of 'thinking' and realised that I was still staring at Maya, And she was still staring at me.

"Maya." I said walking towards her,She stood closer to me without any hesitation.

"Yes?" She replied back,Looking right up at me.

"I want to give you a good bye present." I mumbled quietly.

Maya nodded at me. "What is it?"

"This." I carefully put my head close to hers and pressed my lips onto hers.

I didn't know what made me do this but I didn't care ,It felt right, Even if she was my best friend.
Even if she hated me after this.

I knew one thing.

I would leave New York feeling happy.

Maya kissed me back,Her lips going straight onto mine.

Moments later we pulled apart,I gently moved my lips away from hers.
I could still feel the warmth on my lips from the kiss,Maya was my first kiss,And I was hers.

"Why did you do that?" Maya asked.

"I wanted something to remember before I left." I smiled. "It's moments like these that you know your going to remember forever."

Maya smiled at me. I smiled back at her ,Even if she hadn't felt anything from the kiss that wasn't important to me,But what was important was that it felt right to me.

But not now was I going to allow myself to fall for Maya ,I was moving to Texas.
We wouldn't be able to be in a proper relationship ,Would we?I'm going to be far away from her.

"Maya..." I said,Slowing saying her name. "I know I kissed you...,I had no reason to.But,I liked--No,I loved it.."

Maya slowly nodded it in,It was as if she couldn't take in properly what I was saying.
"Lucas....,I-- I liked it too..,But your going to Texas an-"

"I know." I sighed. "I'd much rather spend time with you,But sadly I cannot ,But we can still meet up,Right?"

"Of course we can." Said Maya looking down at the floor."Of course we can...". She repeated.

"Maya..." I sighed. "Just don't waste your breath on me,Go,Find someone else."

"Waste my breath?" Said Maya,Fiercely. "Is that what you call this?Heck no. If I wanted to waste my breath on someone I'd date...I don't know but,Lucas,I'm not wasting myself on you,I'm glad I have you,I'm glad I know you----I can't stand life without you."

I sighed. "I rephrased that wrong,Let me start again.Don't wait for me,I want you to make new friends,Date new people an-"

"Lucas.Do you know how long I've liked you?" Said Maya,Folding her arms together.

"Actually.. N-no.." I said. "I didn't know you liked me at all really..."

"Really?" Said Maya questioning me. "I've liked you since we were little kids."

I didn't know how to feel about her,I had always looked at her as my best friend,But after we kissed I looked at her in an entirely different way.

But I couldn't like her,I couldn't.
I was moving to Texas.
