" It seemed as if...everything had changed in almost an instant. "
~
That's an important quote for the next chapter.
Lucas's POV-
Maya and my mom were pretty quick, After they had both unpacked I wanted to take them to see something.
Outdoors , Nearby the rodeo ,There was some bulls. I hadn't seen them for years , But I wanted to show Maya them. She knew that I was interested in animals,And that I wanted to become a vet/ Veterinarian.
Maya had some interest in animals herself , She always tried not to show it,But you could easily tell when something sparked her interest.
"Maya,Mom?" I smiled ,Trying to end the awkward silence in the room. No one had said a word since they had come back down the stairs,I guess everyone was thinking of something to say ----- or to do,actually.
Maya glanced at me and smiled. "Yes,Huckleberry?"
"I've got a--"
"Huckleberry?" Said my aunt , A puzzled expression placed onto her face.
Maya blushed in embarrassment, No one ever questioned her usually when she called me these nicknames.
Maya cleared her throat before speaking. "Yes?"
"Huckleberry?" My aunt repeated once again. "What's that supposed to mean, can I ask?"
Maya didn't say anything.
My aunt grabbed her phone off of the table , And ignored us all for a few moments.
"Ah." She finally said. "I've found the definition."
"And what's the definition?" I asked,Out of interest. I didn't actually know what the definition was till she brought it up.
"Top Definition. I'm your huckleberry. 19th century slang which was popularized more recently by the movie Tombstone." Said my aunt,Reading the information from her phone.[This is actually the meaning.]
"Ohhh." I laughed. "I'm your huckleberry then,Maya?"
Maya blushed furiously. "W-what?N-nevermind.." She responded,As her voice slowly trailed off.
"You've been calling me that for over year or so now,And you still don't know the meaning?" I asked , Laughing a little.
She playfully punched me in the arm. "Shut it ,Ranger Rick."
My aunt looked confused at that nickname too. I glanced at her. "Don't worry,That's just another nickname.
My aunt nodded at me.
" Anyway, As I was saying before , Can I show you what I wanted to show you?" I smiled obediently, Awaiting an answer
Maya and my mother nodded. "Sure." They both said in reply together almost instantly.
I expected Maya to hate Texas --- since she had made fun of me and me also talking about Texas all the time, however , She did seem to be enjoying Texas,Even though she hadn't spent a whole day //Proper day//here yet.
I had never expected her to enjoy herself so far , But visiting different places can chance a person I guess.
"What do you want to show us anyway?" Maya replied,Ending the silence which filled the room.
"I don't want to say just yet." I smiled at Maya. "I'd rather it be a surprise for you."
Maya nodded and smiled back at me. "I see,Cowboy."
Maya's POV-
Texas was a lot different then what Lucas described it to be, But it was great.
As was New York too.
"Well,Can we get going to wherever your taking us,Cowboy?" I laughed slightly, I was the type of person who couldn't stand waiting.
Lucas grinned. "Of course ,Ma'dam."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Whatever you say,Huckleberry."
"Alright,Ms Hart." He grinned. "I've made a decision that we can set off now."
"Great decision." I laughed. "Can we go as in now?Right now, Huckleberry?"
"Of course, You might wanna bring some water or something though,It does get pretty warm over here." Said Lucas,Smiling to himself.
"I'll take that on board,Huckleberry." I laughed gently. "But I'm not taking any with me just now,Maybe next time,eh?"
Lucas laughed. "Whatever you say,My Hart. But you can borrow some of mine if you chance your mind,Is that okay?"
"That's fine." I replied. "Thank you."
"No problem." He responded. After that me,His mother,And not to forget,His aunt all went outside,And followed Lucas.
We walked along the Sandy trailed path on the floor,in desperation to get to wherever Lucas was taking us,I just couldn't wait to stop walking.
Lucas was right , It was warm here. Warmer then I was actually used to,In New York the weather was usually either really warm,Or really cold,Or just a plain mixture of both of them.
"Is it always this warm ,then?" I asked Lucas,Or basically anyone who would care to answer me. "If you don't mind me asking, that is."
"Sometimes." Was Lucas's reply. "But I haven't been here for years,so I can't remember how the weather actually is like at times,But my aunt could,Right aunt?" He replied,Looking at his aunt.
"Mainly sunny,But also with hints of rain at times too." Replied his aunt thoughtfully.
[I actually researched the whole weather thing to be accurate.xD]
"Ah." I nodded at her. "Interesting. Thank you for informing me."
"And thank you for asking." His aunt smiled warmly at me. "It's not everyday you get youngsters interested in many things,As kids are usually on there phones,Aren't I right?" She laughed ,Looking at Lucas's mother.
Lucas's mother burst out laughing. "Yes,you are indeed right."
"Hey!" Lucas frowned,But smiled slightly on the side. "Kids aren't... Uh....always on the phone."
"Fine." His aunt responded. "I'll rephrase that, shall I? Most teenagers ,Or even children ,Tend to be on there phones mostly."
Lucas laughed. "Rephrasing it doesn't make the situation any better,Aunt."
