I'm Not That Girl(Maya/Lucas/Riley)

Chapter 10. The dat- Disaster.

Maya's POV-

We were all set to enter the subway,Riley and Lucas walked inside first,Following me and Luc-Josh I mean,Right behind us.

Riley and Lucas looked extremely happy,But I couldn't help but notice Lucas frown slightly, Perhaps he was nervous.

"All aboard!". Josh chuckled,I vaguely laughed as well for his sake.

Riley giggled at her uncle but then began speaking to Lucas as the two sat down next to one another.
Me and Josh sat down opposite of them,I tried to be happy for Lucas's sake,and for Riley's of course.

" This is nice".Smiled Riley."It feels like all of those times we've hanged out,its magical! "

Hanged out?They had only been a couple for less then a week,They'd only hung out twice,So I Barely consider that magical.

"Haha,Yeah". Grinned Lucas." It is magical, Exactly like all The times we've hung out..this week."

"We may have only been together for less then a week,But I already know,I like you a lot Lukey-Pukey." Giggled Riley,flirtatiously.

Lucas hated being called Lukey-Pukey, I had called him that once as a joke,He was in a bad mood with me for quite some time,So I hoped he wouldn't make a big fuss on the subway in front of everyone.

"Lukey-Pukey?". Said Lucas Frowning at Riley,He obviously didn't feel comfortable with the nickname that had been given to him.

" Yes! Lukey-Pukey! ".Riley giggled excitedly," Don't you like the nickname I've given you?"

"It's uh...Great!". Lucas being the kind of guy he was didn't want to hurt Riley's feelings.

" I'm glad you think so!".Riley smiled sweetly at him,"You look handsome by the way..."

I soon got tired of the endless flirting so I decided to talk to my 'date' Considering I was bored.

"Hey Josh,So how are you enjoying are date?". I smiled at him,Although I knew deep down he probably wasn't enjoying it.

He sighed at me." Maya,You're a sweet girl,But I thought we agreeded this would be a fake date,Not a real one?"He whispered.

"It is a fake date!". I said judgementally," Thanks for ruining half of the evening already! "

"God,Maya!". He laughed," Just when I thought you were mature, I guess I was wrong."

"I AM Mature,Well,More mature then you'll ever be." I declared, Causing him to get more frustrated.

He quickly kissed my cheek Causing me to immediately quiten down,"J-josh?"

"I thought that would shut you up". He quickly laughed at my 'gob smacked' reaction.

" Well it did ".I laughed Nervously." I'll try act more mature then...and not show you up."

Lucas glanced over at us,Repeatedly to be honest, Which caused me to get slightly annoyed.

"Lucas,When did my life become so interesting that you focused on my date rather then you're own?". I scowled at him,He didn't want me so why stare?

Lucas's POV-

She couldn't do it,Could she?

Keeping her mouth closed was a hard task for her,Why couldn't she keep quiet?
So what if I was staring at her,It was mine and Riley's date,I can stare at whoever I want..

" M-maya..I wasn't staring,I was uh just looking at you,there is a difference!".I muttered quickly to cause further arguments.

"Whatever,Cowboy".Said Maya,Rolling her eyes at me,She then went back to continue speaking to Josh.

" Lucas!Hello".Said a flirtatious Riley.

"Riley!Hello". I sighed But forced a smile for Riley's sake.

" Lucas,I really,really like you and I feel a connection with you..".Muttered Riley,Staring straight at me.

She hadn't known me long enough to feel a connection with me,So I didn't know how she could like me properly..

"You do?".Was the most I could reply back to her,What do you expect me to say?
These kind of situations get awkward.

" Yes..,I'm happy to have met you,And...I want to make this date one we'll both remember.. ",Riley clasped her hands onto my face before finally putting her head close to mine,This was it.she was going to kiss me.

In the corner of my eye I could see Maya Frowning,I hated seeing my best friend upset.
So I knew what the right thing to do was.

Not kiss her.
Or let her kiss me.

Friendship is more important.
It shouldn't be taken for granted.

I had taken Maya's friendship for granted,And I now know,I'll always deeply regret it.

" Moments like this,You realize what's important to you,and what you should let go."

I had to let Riley go,Since my friendship was at state.

Riley leaned into kiss me,But I stood up before are lips properly touched.

"Riley". I sighed," You're a great girl,But I'm just not the right guy for you.. "
"Recently since we've started dating,and since we've been friends (they've been friends for longer then two weeks so..)I've been neglecting my best friend,Maya,my friendship with her is more important than any relationship."

Riley didn't say anything, She didn't cry,She didn't yell,And she didn't lose her temper, "I-i understand Lucas..sorry for taking you away from your best friend."

I sighed."Its more my fault then yours,I hope you'll find a guy who truly understands you,And whom loves you deeply, and you love them back."
"What we had,I wouldn't call it love,I'd call it puppy love."

"Puppy love?". Asked a clearly confused Riley.

" It means ' shallow romantic attachment'(Yes,This is the actual meaning Of the word)".I sighed.

"Oh". Said Riley,still sounding confused," So it means-"

"It means that you were more or less an attachment to me..which I took for granted, When I should have been there for my best friend more." I said,Sighing once more.

"Oh". That was all Riley could say,She was stunned.

I tried to make this as long as possible so..

Sorry for the late update,I've been busy-ish and been lazy so....

Updates will be slow in about two weeks time, Considering I've got to go back to school(its odd for me,Since I've been Homeschooled for several months,for personal reasons)>.<

I'm also making a new book cover for this either today or tomorrow.
I'm also considering changing the books name to either 'westcoast' or 'Jealous girl'(Both song names by Lana Del Rey)
