It's been two weeks since I've talked to Jake. And the process with storm was barely going.
I was leading Storm to the round pin where we would do join up again when a truck with barrels went by. Storm reared up and screamed. "Hey easy Storm easy." Storm jerked back and ripped the lead rope out of my hands. I gritted my teeth at the burning and I knew blisters would cover them soon.
Storm reared up again and took of down the driveway."Storm!" I screamed. He slid to a stop and looked over his shoulder at me. "I know you got hurt buddy but I did too. I promise your gonna be ok." He turned around and started trotting back to me. He stopped and bumped his nose into my chest. I smiled. I kissed him on his nose and ruffled his mane.
"I know pretty boy, your scared but so am I." I looked around and saw Jake watching from the back of his horse. He tipped his hat and I nodded. I looked at my hands which had huge blisters on them. I took the lead rope and out it around his back. I started walking off toward the empty paddock that was connect to his stall. I unlocked the gate and he went inside. I unhooked the lead rope and left his halter on.
"Stay boy I'll be back." I left the lead in the post and then made my way to the tack room. I grabbed the gauze tape and bandages. I heard cowboy boots coming in the room. I looked up and saw Jake. He smirked. "Got your hands full with that crazy horse." I glared. "He isn't crazy Jake. Just misunderstood."
He just shook his head and grabbed the bandages and tape from my hands. "Hold still whole I tape them." He cleaned them and started on my left hand. "You know no one knows where you and your family came from. Y'all just showed up and took everybody's hearts. And that horse." He just shook his head. "He is even more of a mystery then you are." I smiled. "Is that a bad thing?" He looked into my eyes.
"I don't think so. I sure would like to figure you out though." I smirked. "Well sorry to bust your bubble cowboy but that's never gonna happen." He was finishing up my right hand when I heard some calling me from the aisle.
"Paige if you don't get your tiny crippled little ass out here I swear....." My best friend Maddie said. I rolled my eyes and walked out. She pulled my into a hug and with her being 5'9 to my 5'5 I came to her neck. "You little bitch I've called you 30 damn times and you never answered"
Maddie was a tall blonde with brown eyes. She was extremely loud and spirited and she also knew about the accident. I'm guessing she saw Jake behind me bc she looked over my shoulder. "Damn arnt you a hottie." I rolled my eyes. "That's just Jake. What were you gonna tell me?"
"Oh yea I got asked out by Greg to go to the winter formal and he told me that Ashton was onto you so I said you would go with him" my jaw dropped. "You dumbass." She smiled. "Please just go I don't want to be by myself with Greg just please I'll do anything." I rolled my eyes. "Fine but you owe me."
After deciding all the plans she left. Jake looked pissed and left as soon as she was talking about the winter formal. I walked to the paddock Storm was in and called him. He took off running toward me and opened the gate and hooked his lead rope to it. It was starting to get a little dark and everyone was going home so it was the perfect time to do this.
I lead him to the round pin and shut it. I took his halter and lead rope off and slung it on the post. I tree my hands up and pushed him around the ring. His ears started flicking and and he was starting to chew. Join up! I turned around and I felt breath on my neck. I turned slowly and ran my and down his neck. I placed my hands on his back and applied pressure.
