Chapter Forty-Four: Time

After about a year of being apart from Jake, Jessica and Cotton are finally stable in a house far away from the camp. They had a ranch, with horses and dogs. Three of the babies, Lilyonna, Diana, and Caleb lived with Axel and Cotton's other siblings, Arizona and Benji. Little Jake as fascinated as he was with cowboy stuff and horses he ended up with Jessica and Cotton. Jake managed to find a place close enough for Cotton to sneak out and see him. Jake also had another child, her name is Priscilla. Jessica ended up with a new boyfriend even though she was still married to Jake. They decided to separate after Cotton woke up.

Sommers, who recovered from the gunshot wound asked to live with Jessica with her daughter Adriana. Neal was recently put in the hospital after finding out her had stage 4 prostate cancer. He wouldn't last for more than a year maybe six months. Adam, Jessica's new boyfriend moved in just a couple months before Sommers did. That's when Cotton got even stranger.

Jake, Priscilla and Ella, Priscilla's mother were outside playing in the swimming pool that Jake built for Priscilla when Cotton came running up with Little Jake in her arms. "Daddy! Look!" Priscilla points at Cotton and Little Jake. "Ella take Pris inside, I've gotta talk to Cottie." Jake handed Priscilla to Ella. Ella nods and went inside with the baby. "Cottie, what are you doing here?" Jake asks wrapping a towel around himself. "Adam, he is beating mummy and cheating on her with Sommers. He's hurting my mummy!" Cotton tells him, trying to breathe normally since she was running and she had asthma. "Cotton is he hurting her now?" Jake asks as he took Little Jake. Cotton sat on the play set swings and began to tell her everything that's going on. "We were all eating dinner when Adam came in drunk. Mummy didn't think it was safe me and Little Jake to be there since he is drunk. He didn't like her telling us to go somewhere safe and he started trying to keep us from leaving. Mum tried to make him move and he hit her. It resulted in a fight and the last thing I saw was him choking her! I was so scared I ran to you! Please help mummy!"

"Alright." Jake says and puts Little Jake in the house with Ella. "Where are you going?" Ella asks him. "To help Jessica with Adam." Jake says giving her a kiss on the cheek. Cotton had to look away. She didn't like Ella and she thought Ella was completely a gold digger. "Okay." Was all Ella said before giving Cotton a glare and going inside with Little Jake. "Alright let's go." Jake says to Cotton.

"Adam stop!" Jessica yells at Adam, he was so violent when he was drunk. He had slammed his enormous fist in her nose. Her nose broke instantly and she fell onto the floor with him on top of her. Before she knew it, he was inside her raping her so roughly. She started to cry. Her mind took her back to when Cotton was nine and Jake got so angry with them. Suddenly, Adam collapsed on top of her. She pushed him off to see Jake with a pan and Cotton behind him, hiding her face with her little hands. "Cotton when I said go get help I didn't mean Jake!" Jessica said getting up and covering herself with a blanket since she didn't want Jake staring at her lower exposed body. "Um in case you haven't noticed I just saved your ass so you should be happy!" Jake says rolling his eyes. He sat the dented pan on the kitchen counter. "Get out!" Jessica yells at him. "A thank you would've been nice to ya know but okay." Jake got cocky with Jessica which ultimately made her want to smash his head in with the pan. "Men." She mumbles to herself. "What was that? Ya know I'm not that bad? This jerk of a guy is! When have I ever raped you?" Jake asks her.

Jessica looked him straight in the eye. "Back in 2009 when I left you. You got angry at me and Cotton." She told him. "Oh um sorry I forgot." Jake felt a little embarrassed. He didn't remember much of 2009. He actually had short-term memory, so alot of things her forgot except for the important things like adopting Cotton, having sex for the first time with Jessica and finding out Jessica was pregnant with the babies. "Can I hurt him?" Cotton asks randomly out of the blue. She had her brand new pocket knife out and hitting it against her palm. "No!" Both Jake and Jessica said in unison. "Aw why not?" Cotton whined putting her pocket knife away. "Because you shouldn't hurt others because they hurt someone you loved or yourself." Jake tells her.
