The roaring waters were slamming against the rocks on the closed off part of London beach. The waters were dark and an hazel blue. It's one of the things Jessica loved most about the beach. Her black and streaked lavender curls were swaying in the breezy wind. Good thing she had a California jumper on. She tapped her bare feet against the rock she sat on. Her Nike shoes sat neatly beside her. She looked like a model from where Jake stood. He'd always admire Jessica from afar. Jake liked how she scrunched up her little nose when a spray of water hit her. Jessica never realized that she does it. Jake never knew why Jessica wore shorts during the cold winter like this.
But the odd thing is about her was her body heat was never cold and she was born in 1991 of June on the 14th. She should have been a winter baby from the way she stood up to the cold. Jake,on the other hand was born in 1992 on the 16th of September, he dislikes the cold and prefers the Summer warmth. Strange how these two a paired up.
"Jessica!" He called out. His voice echoed within the closed off areas, making it impossible for anyone not to hear. Jessica looked up to see her boyfriend standing on the biggest rock in the closed off area. He had on his black hat,a flannel t-shirt and black jeans with some white trainers. His green blue eyes sparkled underneath the sunrise sunlight. She stood up, with an admiration in her eyes, something unexplained was happening. Something was about to happen that'll change their lives forever. Jessica wants it badly and she's willing to do anything to get Jake to help her. He doesn't know of the strange desire the 16 year old wanted. Jake actually had a dark twisted secret of his own to share with his love but he doesn't want to spill it just yet. For it may cause a friction in their four year running relationship.
She walked over to him, open arms and smile on her beautiful face. "I'm so glad you're here. I've missed you." She said kissing his cheek. Jake smiled at her words. It made him want more than just a kiss but he doesn't at the same time. He's afraid of hurting her. Jessica who was fearless didn't mind the 'no sex rule' for it made sense. They would rather wait then do it now. "I know you have babe. Let's get home, I need to discuss something with you." Jake whispered in her ear. Jessica just shivered under his touch. It was something Jake took pride in it. "Just lemme grab my trainers." She said running back to get her shoes but she slipped on the wet rocks. She screamed and fell off the rocks. "Jessica no!" He yelled trying to keep her from falling into the deep waters. She was grasping the rocks as tightly as she could. Jessica didn't want to fall in for she will drown. She doesn't know how to swim. "P-please do-don't lemme fall!!!" Jessica stuttered out. "I won't baby! I won't. You gotta hold on! Don't let go!" Jake told her trying to sound confident he could keep her on the surface and away from the waters.
Jessica's hands began slipping through his fingers. His grip wasn't tight enough. "No! Please don't let me go." She screamed. One more slip out of his grip, she'd go crash into the waters without a warning. "Jessica, I promise you I won't." He said with a scared voice. And that one more slip came. She screamed making birds flutter from the trees behind the rocks. "Jessica!" He yelled. Jessica was falling backwards into the water. As soon as she hit the water, her breath was knocked out, causing her to squirm underneath the waters. Jake watched her disappear within the roaring waters. I've gotta save her. Jake thought. He took off his shoes and jumped in after her. He swam til he spotted her. She was drowning right before his heads. Before he could reach her, a wave sent both of them slamming into the rocks. He was knocked out on point. Jessica could see the surface, so she grabbed onto the rocks, pulled herself out of the water and laid onto a rock, trying to catch her breath. As soon as she regained regular breathing, she spotted a knocked out Jake. She needed to save him and to do she's going to have to face her fears, really quick. She braced herself for a jump. She kept her hands on the rock and managed to grab Jake's collar,
She used all her strength to pull him onto the rock. Another wave had hit dragging her back under the water. But she managed to make it back to the surface and climb onto the rock again. She passed out instantly. The cold water made their temperatures drop below. Their body heat was barely warm. Their clothes were plastered to their bodies. A young girl caught glimpse of the couple, both look half dead. She whistled and a black Akita came over the edge staring down at Jake and Jessica. "Should we call an ambulance?" She called to her friend who walked up about half a second after the akita. "Yeah." He said with a simple smile. She pulled out her flip phone, called the ambulance and told them what happened. After that, she hung up. "What'd they say?" Asked the boy. "To stay here and wait for them to arrive." She answered sitting on the rocks. "But Cotton its freezing." He whined. She shot a glare. And lemme tell you, if looks could kill hers definitely would. "Sorry." He mumbled sitting next to her. "Yeah okay." She said in a snappy tone. Cotton was a strong willed woman. She didn't let death or anything scary get to her. Cotton had been fearless every since she was six years old. When she was six years of age, her parents and her were driving across the train tracks. The porsh got caught on the railing. A train was coming at that moment, her parents seat belts got caught, they screamed at her to get out. She did, leaving her trapped parents in their porsh. She managed to escape the wreckage. The train collided with the porsh and it blew up. From then on, Cotton was fearless.
He doesn't know that she has no parents, until now. "Cotton?" He says. Cotton's icy grey eyes looked at him. There was no emotion in them, no love, no sympathy, no anything. "Yes Joshua?" She answered. Her voice was like a melody to his ears. No doubt about it, he loved nine year old with all of his heart. But Joshua knew she's going to be hard to get. "What happened to your parents? Why do you live by yourself?" Joshua asked. Cotton softened up. A smile appeared on her pale skinned face. "Well, when I was younger about six I believe, my parents and I were on our way home from a big party. We were crossing the train tracks and one of the back tires got caught in a broken piece of railing. My dad's seat belt wouldn't come undone neither would my mother's. And a train was coming. They yelled at me to get out and I did. They said I love you's, before the train collided with the porsh. They did in an explosion in front of me." She explained. She remembers every little detail, as if it happened yesterday. Joshua felt some remorse and sympathy for the girl for he lost his mother in a car accident not to long ago. "Is that why you're so fearless?" Asked Joshua taking her hand in his, and boy were they little. Cotton moved closer to Joshua, letting her dog have a spot in her lap. "Yes." Just before Cotton could say anything more they heard sirens. Then, men with gernies come up. "Where are they?" Asked a young man. In his twenties or so. "Down there." Joshua pointed at the couple laying on the rock. "Thank you!" They said and made their way down to the couple.
Cotton and Joshua watched two men lift up Jessica and lay her on a gernie. Cotton snapped a picture of her. "Why did you take a pic of her?" Asked Joshua curiously. "I wanna remember her face. I want to find her again. If she survives that is." Cotton answered staring at Jessica. Cotton happened to study people, Cotton was very much so studying Jessica at that moment in time. Then the paramedics, put Jake on a gernie and led them back to the ambulance. "Can we get a statement from you two?" Asked a cop. His badge had his name engraved on it and Joshua noticed. "Well Mr. Jacobson, we were walking and Cotton spotted them. I told ber to call the ambulance."
"Well you kids did the right thing. If you hadn't found these two, they would have frozen to death. Thank you for your help." Mr. Jacobson said and walked away.
"You're welcome officer." Joshua yelled after him, but Mr. Jacobson didn't hear him. "We saved their lives!" Cotton said while hugging Joshua tightly. "Yes we did, now can we go back to your place and drink some hot coco?" He asked with a happy smile.
"Yes most definitely." She said walking away with the akita next to her. Joshua never noticed that Cotton walked with a limp. It had been caused by the train wreck, one of the car doors flew of crushing her left leg. "Aye wait up!" Joshua said shaking his head. "Well don't be so slow."
-At The Hospital-
Jake and Jessica were put in a hospital bedroom together. They had to have several stitches on their heads. Jessica had 32 stitches put in her left leg. Jake, was bruised in several places. The doctor's are surprised Jake is still alive. Doctor Black, was talking to his nurse Miss Jude. Jessica could hear every single word. "Apparently, Jessica fell off the rocks and Jake went in after her. She most likely doesn't know how to swim. Considering the internal bruising she has the waves must have slammed her hard against the rocks." Explained Doctor Black while pointing at an X ray showing the bruising. "Poor Gal.'' Miss Jude said in a sympathetic voice. ''Yes, but Jessica will live and Jake he is fine except for the bump on his head." Doctor Black said with a reassuring smile. "Hmm good. They should be waking up any time now." He added.
He was right. Jake's eyes fluttered opened instantly. "Where am I?" He spoke.
"Hospital." Jessica said with a raspy voice.
Oh great! He thought.
