"Mum, Dad, we have something to tell you." Jessica says as she sits on the couch with Jake and Cotton next to her. Her parents, John and Janis sat there with smiles. "Go ahead sweetheart tell us." Janis pushed. Jessica looks back at her daughter and Jake. "Well, me and Jake have adopted Cotton." Jessica smiles. Her parents stared directly at Cotton. She began to get shy. "Come here little one.'' John says in a kind tone. Cotton did as she was told. Mostly, cause John was a scary and authoritative man. John cupped Cotton's face. "You're one of the most beautiful person I've ever laid eyes on besides my wife and my daughters. You're my granddaughter. Don't you ever forget that. Cause you my little one are perfect for us all.'' He says. Hearing that made Jessica tear up and Jake hold her tight. Janis agrees with her husband. Cotton was the missing piece to their family. Cotton's heart felt complete. She looks back at her mum and dad. Then she hugs John. "Thank you! I'll make you proud grandpa!" John felt so much joy in that moment. "I know you will." John says giving her a kiss on the forehead.
Cotton wasn't about to forget Grandma. "Maama, I'll make you proud. Anything you need I'll help you with it. I promise you that." Cotton gives her a huge hug. "Great because you and I are going to have some good times." Janis says. She was happy to finally have a grandchild. One that was willing to help her and spend time with her. "I can't wait.'' Cotton says giving her a kiss on the cheek. Cotton sure was a sweet thing. Just like her name.
Cotton was happy she was accepted into Jessica's family. "Are you going to stand there or you gonna give your uncles a hug." Said Johnny and Joseph. "I don't know yet!" Cotton laughs sarcastically. She runs to them. Almost tripping over John's dog, Jack. "Glad we finally have someone we can pick on." Joseph pokes Cotton's belly. "Mummy!" She says slapping away his hand. "Haha I wouldn't do that Joey, she's a feisty one.'' Jessica says she walks over to her brothers. ''Too bad!" Joey says and pokes Cotton's cheek. ''Stop poking me!!!'' Cotton pokes Joey hard on his cheek. ''Ow! Alright I'll stop." He holds his hands up in surrender. Jessica just laughs. "How does it feel to get owned by a nine year old?'' Joey glares at his older sister. "I hate you."
Everyone busted out laughing. "Well I love you too." Jessica says. "I'm going to spend the night with Mila if that's alright with you Dad?" Joey turns his attention to John. "Go ahead.'' John says and Joey walks out with a smile. Johnny was still holding Cotton. "You know you're really little for a nine year old." Johnny says to her. "I know. But hey, it's probably for the best." Cotton says with a cute smile. "We'll see won't we?" Johnny says. "Yup."
Jake and Jessica could already tell Cotton was going to be close with Johnny. It wasn't a bad thing either. "Um Cotton, we gotta go." Jake walks up to them. "No why?" Asks Cotton. "My mum, she'd want to know about everything." Jake replies. He had a point. His mum needed to know about it. Cotton understood. "Okay! Lemme say goodbye to them." Cotton smiles at her newly found grandparents. "Go ahead baby girl." Jake says. Cotton gives Johnny a hug. Then runs over and gives John and Janis a hug. "All ready to go?" Asks Jessica. Cotton nods not wanting to leave but she had to. "Alright. Bye mum dad and Johnny.'' Jessica waves at her family. "Bye." They all said at the same time. It made Cotton giggle. She waves at Johnny, then walks out with Jake and Jessica.
They drove to Jake's mums house. Cotton fell asleep in Jessica's lap. "How's she doing?" Asks Jake looking back at his family. He wanted to make his family complete by marrying Jessica. So he was planning to ask her on Valentines Day. It would be special. ''She's sound asleep." Jessica answers. "I'll come around and pick her up so you can get out." Jake gets out and opens the car door. Jessica hands Jake Cotton. Cotton almost wakes up but she doesn't. "She's cute when she's asleep." Jake kisses Jessica's lips. "Yeah I know.'' Jessica and Jake were bracing themselves for what was to come. Jake takes Jessica's hand. She knocks on the door. She was shaking. Jake kisses her again. "It's okay baby." She didn't know whether to believe him or not. His mum was a tough mother. It explains why she's so afraid of her. "Hey Jake, Jessica and Cotton." His mum says as she steps out. "Hello, mum we have some news." Jake says. They all sit on the swing on the porch. "Alright, tell me." She pushes.
