Chapter thirteen: Tears

Jessica woke up with Cotton on her chest. Cotton was curled up in a ball. Jessica aws her and lays Cotton on the bed. Jessica walks into her bathroom that interconnected with her bedroom. She looked into the mirror. She had a bruise forming on her left cheek. Her bottom lip was slightly cut. She shook her head. She doesn't understand why Jake was so angry. She undresses. She looks at the wall mirror. Bruises and cuts were formed around her waist and thighs. She knew she had a humongous bruise on her back, considering the slam against the wall was more than enough to cause a bruise. She sighs and steps into the warm water of the shower.

Tears gradually sprung from her eyes. Only to be washed away by the shower water. Why! She kept repeating the word over and over again in her head. After she felt clean enough, she steps out. Grabs a towel, wraps it around her and before she knew it Cotton was standing there. "Cotton? What are you doing up?" Jessica asks making sure the towel was covering all of her. Cotton smiles. "I'm sorta hungry." Jessica felt relieved. Jessica sighs. "Well lemme get dressed and I'll meet you down stairs for breakfast." Cotton nods and leaves the doorway. Jessica quickly gets dressed and walks downstairs almost running into Johnny. "Sorry Jes.'' Johnny apologizes when they collided. "It's alright." Jessica hugs him. "You okay?" Johnny asks touching the bruise on Jessica's cheek. "A bit sore, but I'll be fine.'' Jessica replies in full honesty. "Good. I'll see you later." Johnny brushes past Jessica.

"K bye." Jessica says and walks into the kitchen to see Cotton sitting next to her grandpa. "Hello Jessica." John greets her with a warm smile. "Hi!" Jessica waves at him. "Cotton? What do you want to eat?" Jessica asks looking through cupboards. "It's alright Jes. I fed her some pancakes. There's two left if you want them." John pushes a plate of blueberry pancakes towards her way. "Well thanks dad but you didn't have to." Jessica sits next to him. John smiles. "I have no problem in feeding my family." John was so polite and just a gentlemen. It reminds Cotton of Joshua. He maybe cruel at times but he's got a soft side. Cotton admired it. "You're such an amazing father." Jessica hugs him. "And I have a wonderful daughter and granddaughter." John pulls his girls close.

"Couldn't be happier with that." Cotton giggles giving John a hug. "I know you wouldn't." John kisses her forehead. "Where's our pets?" Jessica suddenly remembers Fine China and Key. "Right here." Janis walks up carrying Fine China and Key padding beside her. Cotton runs to her pup. "Hi baby! Did you miss me!" She squeals at him while he licks her cheeks. Janis hands Jessica the kitten. "Aww!! I missed you to baby." Jessica says as Fine China purrs into her chest. Her purrs vibrated through Jessica chest and ribcage. "I never thought my baby sister was an animal lover." Jessica's sister Jade walks in with a smile. Jessica put Fine China on the table and hugs her sister. "Oh Jade! I haven't seen you in a long time." Jessica smiles at her. "I know! And who's this little thing?" Jade walks up to Cotton who was having a field day with Key. Cotton instantly snaps her fingers making the dog be calm again. She stands up. "I'm Cotton." Cotton says a bit shyly. "Aww you're gorgeous. And I suppose this is the child you told me about dad." Jade surely switches people quick. "Yes it is." John picks up Cotton. "Treat my sister right ya hear?" Jade playfully says to Cotton. "I will!" Cotton proudly says. "Now where's Jake? Been dying to see his chubby face for a while." Jade turns to Jessica. Everyone instantly got quiet. "Um, Jade, Jake did some bad things and well for now Jessica and Cotton will be staying with us until he gets better." John speaks for everyone. Jade's smile fades away and she faces her father. "What bad things?" Jade presses. "Dad, gimme Cotton and you can tell her. I don't want Cotton to know what happened between me and Jake." Jessica says taking Cotton.

"Yeah that's best." Janis smiles. "We'll see you later Jade." Jessica waves at her and walks upstairs.

"Jake got angry and attacked Cotton. Then he, well sexually abused Jessica but luckily it wasn't that bad. Me and your brother got there in just in time." John explains to Jade. Jade shook her head. "That bastard! How could he do that to Jes? Not to mention Cotton." Janis grabs Jade. "It's okay. They're both fine. Anyway, Jade you should go visit with your sister and niece. I'm sure they'd love to hear about your life." Jade nods.

Cotton laid on Jessica's bed with a sigh. "What's the matter Cotton?" Jessica sits next to her. "I know this may sound idiotic but I miss Jake." Cotton gets in Jessica's lap. "I do too." Jessica actually did miss him despite what he did to her and Cotton. But no matter how much she misses him, she knew she couldn't go back until he was Jake again. "Hey!" Jade pops her head in the doorway. Cotton sits up. "Hi!" Jessica and Cotton both said in sync. Jade giggles and walks in. "I have some news. I wanna share with you." Jade places her bum on Jessica's desk chair. "Hmm what's the news?" Asks Jessica.

"I'm pregnant." Jade squeals.

Cotton and Jessica ran up and hugged her.

"Aww yay!!!"
