Misfortune Rising

(First chapter of the new year and on the anniversary of Ninjago! Woo! Let the Pirate Party begin!)

So, we busted out of Kryptarium Prison. Now, we're on the run. The good news is we know what we need to slow down a djinn long enough to stop them, but the bad news is the only way to find where it is is on a lantern on the very ship that the djinn is captain of. Never a dull moment in Ninjago. (Nope.)

We had to split up: Jay and Nya are undercover as police officers to find out where Misfortune's Keep could be, Zane and Kai are going to try and get the Destiny's Bounty so we can have a ship again, and Lloyd, Cole and I are currently flying on our Elemental Dragons to get to where Misfortune's Keep is and fast.

"Okay, I've located Nadakhan's ship. It was last recorded to be seen in Gypsy Cove, three clicks north of Cannon Beach." Nya says over the coms. "Thanks, Delara. Oh, I mean, Nya." Cole jokes. He and Lloyd laugh but I give them a raised brow. "Not funny. Let's see how you like it when you look like our enemy's sweetheart." Nya bites back. (Girl is going through enough as is.) Oh, and apparently Delara was the lover of Nadakhan but died a long time ago. That would explain the affection I felt from Nadakhan when he said her name. "Gypsy Cove isn't far. We'll let you know what we see when we get there." Lloyd says.

The tension is thick, but an idea strikes me and I smile. "Last Ninja there is a rotten one!" I call out then snap the reins to make my dragon fly faster. "Hey, no fair!" I hear Cole shout but I smile as I feel his excitement. "Wait up!" Lloyd joins in and I laugh at the silliness of it. We're on the run from the police, a pirate djinn is out for Ninjago and here we are racing through the sky. It's nice, and it makes me miss our original dragons. (I miss our boys! 😭😭😭😭) I stop laughing as I feel Zane and Kai, I close my eyes and see them running away from a dog and a man with a shotgun. I let out a laugh, "Oh, boys." Okay, time to get serious.

We make it to Gypsy Cove and hop off our dragons as he land on the ground and enter the cove. "Well, if you can't get it, for my sake just get out of there, you two." I hear Nya whisper into the coms. "Get out of here? We just got here. And there's three of us." Cole says, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and holding me close to him. "Not you, Cole. Did you find Nadakhan's ship?" Nya asks. "Not exactly. But there is evidence of it." Lloyd says as we walk over to some leftover junk. "Looks like some repairs were made. But this is strange. What is electrical wiring doing on an old pirate ship?" He says, picking up a disk with a lot of mechanical stuff on it.

I gently remove Cole's arm as I walk over and stand beside Lloyd as I look at the piece. "Maybe it already set off to sea?" Cole guesses. "If that were the case, it would already be on the news and the media would be focused on pirates and not ninja." I counter. "I'm getting no readings of it anywhere. You'd think a big pirate ship would get someone's attention." Nya says, and I walk over to another piece and pick it up. It looks like a mini-thruster like the ones on the Bounty. "If Nadakhan's ship's not here, and it's not out there, where is it?" Lloyd asks. "Good question." Nya replies.

An idea strikes me. And I don't like it. "Umm, guys." I speak up. "What is it, (Y/N)?" I hear Cole ask. I turn around to face them, "What if instead of sailing the seas, it sails through the skies." I say. (Ooooh... That's not good.) Lloyd and Cole share a look and I feel their worry. "Oh, this just keeps getting better and better." Cole says sarcastically. I walk over and lay a hand on his shoulder, "My job is to catch the Ninja so that the Sword of Souls is powerful enough to do our bidding." (That is also not good. 😰) I gasp and look around. "What is it?" I feel my hand be grabbed and look at Cole.

I take off my hood to better breathe as I close my eyes and see Nadakhan, but only for a moment because he poofs away. I feel a hand on my shoulder and open my eyes to find Lloyd with his hood off and giving me a worried frown. I look down at the ground, "I heard Nadakhan." I confess. "What? Is he near?" Lloyd asks. "No. No, but we need to be careful. Nadakhan is angry and wants to use something called the Sword of Souls on us." I informs. "We need to tell the others and warn them. Whatever that sword can do, I don't think we want to find out." Cole says, giving my hand a squeeze.
