Divya's POV
I watched as Elizabeth hugged a man I've never seen before. He was tall, with ginger hair, freckles all over his face and big blue eyes, quite handsome if I was honest.
Elizabeth looked beyond happy, as they hugged and talked.
"That's her best friend, Harrison." Aleyna told me as we stood side by side.
"Elizabeth hasn't mentioned him before."
"You know how my daughter is, dear. Besides they haven't seen each other in a long while, so is no surprise she has forgotten to mention him." Aleyna gave me a kind smile before joining her husband—who was talking eagerly with the two friends.
Just then it seemed like Elizabeth had remembered I was here too and came my way along with Harrison. I put on my best smile as I looked at the pair.
"Harry, this is my girlfriend Divya. Divya, this is my best friend Harrison." Elizabeth introduced us, so I extended my hand out to him, but he grabbed it and kissed it instead of shaking it. My eyes widened slightly at the action and I noticed Elizabeth frowning too but didn't say anything.
"Pleasure to finally meet you, the times Elizabeth and have spoken —although lately they haven't been many— she has done nothing but gush about you and now I can see why that is." Harrison spoke charmingly, leaving me speechless for a second until I regained my composure.
"Hi... yeah, is good to meet you as well." I tried to not blush at the compliment... but that proved hard to avoid.
"I must say her taste in women does not disappoint and you are by far the most beautiful I've seen." He kept complimenting me.
Elizabeth cleared her throat gaining our attention—the look on her face almost making me laugh. She was jealous and it was hilarious. Harrison seemed to notice as well as a grin overtook his freckled face.
"We are having tea, care to join us?" Elizabeth asked and looked at where her parents were sat at.
"Tea? Alright, I'll accept the proposal, but only if you and your beautiful girlfriend come have a pint with me later tonight." Harrison grinned at the lack of amusement from his so called best friend.
"I don't know, we arrived today so it has been a pretty long day." Elizabeth attempted to turn him down.
"Oh come on Liz," he looked at me. "What do you say Divya? Are you up for a pint and a tour of London?"
I glanced between the both of them. I bit my lip anxiously. "I could accept the drink, but maybe the tour for another day? Elizabeth is right, it's been a long day."
"Then it's settled, we'll go grab a pint and then you can go back home." Harrison put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulder as he smiled in excitement. "Like old times!"
We spent the rest of the evening with Elizabeth's parents and I got to know them more. They were lovely people, I could see each of their traits on Elizabeth. She had her father's charming smile and height, while everything else had come from her mother. However I could see it was her dad who se got her gentleness and sense of humor. Her way with words and wit came from her mom, that much was evident.
Yet she was her own person, beautiful and unique.
Harrison kept on telling tales from their school years, how much of a troublemaker Elizabeth was at times, yet she still had managed to graduate as top of her class. Something that she repeated during her university years. I never pictured her as a rebel, a bookworm I could believe, but not someone to defy the rules... or maybe I could.
Elizabeth always knows what she wants and she doesn't stop at anything to get it.
That's part of how I am here with her today.
