IF THERE WAS ONE THING TEAGAN HAD COME TO APPRECIATE ABOUT HER BOYFRIEND, IT WAS HIS APARTMENT. Which, in retrospect, isn't exactly the most romantic thing to say about your significant other, regardless of how true it might be.

To reiterate, Teagan really liked her boyfriend. She just also really liked his apartment.

What she had said on New Years was true: the apartment itself was pretty much exactly what you'd expect. There wasn't anything overtly special or particularly interesting about it, objectively speaking. It was built almost identically to hers, and to Connor's, and to everyone-else-in-California's.

But it was his. In the obvious sense, and in the littlest ways.

The way his living room was minimally decorated, and the way his kitchen table was exactly where it should be, despite his personal opinion claiming otherwise. The books by his bed, his grey sheets and perfectly sorted closet.

In every room, there was a different aspect of him, and she adored every one. Nowhere, save for her own home, had ever brought her so much comfort. She also knew that he went to great effort to make sure she felt perfectly welcome. He had gone all-in on sharing his home with her from the very beginning.

Now she was logging into her Steam on his computer, and there were two toothbrushes next to his bathroom sink.

Techno hovered for a few moments while Teagan got herself completely situated. He was fully aware that she probably didn't need his help, but he wanted to be present just in case. He also, admittedly, couldn't bring himself completely hand over his computer just yet.

Once everything was setup and ready, Teagan tilted her head to gaze up at her boyfriend. She gave him a gentle smile and batted her eyes. "Did I mess anything up, Captain?"

Just like that, he no longer had any anxiety about putting his computer in her hands. He shook his head, bowing to kiss her gently. "You know where I'll be if you need anything. Have a good stream."

She gave his arm a grateful squeeze in response, and he brushed an affection hand against her cheek as he exited the room.

Alone in her boyfriend's bedroom once more, Teagan took a moment to compose herself. Once she felt as though she was completely ready, she typed a message to Ben.

Messages - Benny

Teagan

Hi friend.
I have a proposition for you.

Benny

Morning, Teags.
I'm listening.

Teagan

I think we both can agree Nico has been a bit of a menace.

Benny

More than agree.

Teagan

Right.
Today I'm sure he intends to be no different.
Mina and I were planning to get ahead of it before he can even start.

Benny

Mina?
And what did you have in mind?

Teagan

When he told me he invited you, I countered with Mina.
He can say it's all been a joke and he's over it all he wants, but she's the only woman who I've ever seen actually humble him.
