About two weeks later, Yoongi POV
"What's that box?" I walk over to the box that's on the side of my closet that was reserved for Min Jee. The box has a bow on top, but it's not wrapped. I sigh and think, "These must be some of Min Jee's things, I shouldn't touch them." I put my arms at my sides and turn to leave when my curiosity gets the better of me and I pick up the box.
Jimin walks into the room and says, "Hyung, Jungkook and I are going to start collecting Min Jee's things." He looks at the box in my hands and asks, "What is that?" I say, "I don't know. Probably some of Min Jee's things." Jimin looks at me and says, "Hyung, then you shouldn't touch them. Give it to me, I'll take it and give it back to her."
He walks over to me and takes the box from my hands. He quickly leaves my room with the box in his hands and walks to the living room. I look at him and ask, "Then why can you touch it when I can't? If it's Min Jee's stuff, then I have more right to touch it than you do. But we don't even know for sure what it is because it was in MY closet."
Jimin says, "In your closet, but you didn't even know about the existence of this box. And it was on Min Jee's side. Maybe there's something important to her in there and in that case it would be better if you didn't touch it. And I have the right to touch it because you're her ex, but I'm her best friend." I laugh sarcastically and raise an eyebrow.
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that," I growl. Then I say, "Min Jee's best friend, so why aren't you with her, but with me?" Jimin growls, "Because you have surgery in three days and we won't see you for a long time, you idiot. Besides, Min Jee is in New York." My eyes widen and I ask, "She's in New York? What's she doing there?"
Jimin rolls his eyes and says, "Forget it." Then he puts the box on the ground and Jungkook says, "Jiminie hyung, let's take a look? I want to know what's in there." Jimin says, "But that's rude to Min Jee. What if she has something private in there and doesn't want anyone else to see it?" Jimin looks at the others, then gets off the couch, pulls the box to his side, and opens it.
The others lean in closer to see what's inside, including me. There's some stuff in the box, neatly arranged, and there's a letter on top and a few more pages. Jungkook puts the letter aside and takes a bottle from the box. It's a peppermint body lotion. I smile weakly and Jungkook puts it aside.
Then he takes a smaller box out of the box and opens it. Inside are several face masks, skincare products, and so on. He closes it and puts it away. Then he takes a box from the bottom of the box and opens it. There's a collection of Cartier accessories. I recognize them because I looked at them, but I never got around to buying them. I bite my lip and take a deep breath.
Then there's a couple of shirts in the box that we looked at together, which I really liked. But I didn't have time to buy them at the time. I smile a little wider. Jimin says, "Well, that's all I think." And Jungkook is about to put everything back in when Taehyung stops him. He points at a small box in the corner of the big box that Jungkook never opened. He pulls it out and opens.
Jimin and I look at each other and I mutter quietly, "It can't be." Everyone looks at me, including Jimin. I move closer and squat down next to Jimin. Jimin looks at me and says, "You know what this means." Tears well up in my eyes and I say, "No way. There's no way that it would happen."
Jungkook asks, "Jiminie hyung, what's going on? What's that ring?" Jimin and I look at each other and Jimin says, "It's Min Jee's grandfather's ring that her grandmother proposed to him with. Min Jee wanted to propose to Yoongi hyung." Jungkook says, "Are you sure? Maybe she just wanted to give it to him anyway?"
I say, "Read the letter, Kookie." Jungkook nods, opens the letter, and starts reading.
Dear Yoongi oppa,About the gifts....1) The peppermint cream is because you always like how I smell like peppermint, so I bought it so you could try it yourself.2) The face mask and skincare box is because we always talked about having a spa night with face masks, sushi, and movies.3) The Cartier accessories and clothes are the things you/we looked at but didn't buy even though they all looked good on you. That's why I wanted you to have them all.4) I thought for a long time about how I would do this, whether I would look stupid, and so on. But then I realized that I don't care. I love you and you have always been my best friend, ever since we met. When we first met, I didn't really like you. You seemed a bit strange and mysterious to me at first, but I was really intrigued by it after a while.But over time, I got to know you better and became really attached to you. When you came to my 18th birthday party, I was really happy. Of course, I couldn't show it because I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of you. Plus, your very handsome trainee friends were with you. Do I wish we had been together since then?Maybe. .....oh my god, I feel stupid now writing this... Oh well. I don't really have anything to lose. Because you're with me, and as long as you're with me, I'm fine and I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I'm forever grateful that you came into my life. My life would be completely different without you in that, but in a bad way.Anyway, what I'm trying to say is....Marry me? I know maybe I'm not good enough or pretty enough for you. Maybe ARMY or BTS wouldn't support this because you deserve better. But I hope you don't think so. I love you and I will try to be better for you every day. Because you make me a better version of myself and make me so happy. I know we haven't been together long, but that seems more than enough to me.You should open this letter on 25/12, so Christmas, when, as you said, we will have been together for over a year. Jimin says quietly, "She wrote it two days before the fight." Jungkook puts the letter aside and everyone looks at me. Jungkook whispers, "Oh my god. I can't believe it." I lower my head and say, "It's all my fault. If I hadn't been so busy, she wouldn't have gone to another guy and stayed with me." Jimin looks at me and asks, "Huh, what are you talking about, hyung? Wait, did you seriously fight with Min Jee because you thought she was cheating on you with someone else?"
I say, "Someone anonymously sent me pictures of them hugging, acting like a couple, and eating on a date." Jimin looks at me with huge eyes and says, "Oh my god, hyung. You're a total idiot." I look at him angrily, he pulls his phone out of his pocket, opens YouTube, plays a video, and shoves the phone into my hands.
I look at Jimin with a confused look on his face and he angrily says, "Just watch." I nod and start watching the video. It's some kind of music video and I don't understand why Jimin wants me to watch it. Until Min Jee comes into the frame with the guy I saw her with in the photos. I watch the whole video.
I give Jimin the phone back and say, "Oh my god, I'm really an idiot. I thought she was cheating on me." Jungkook says, "Hyung, do you seriously think she would do something like that to you? She loves you too much to ever hurt you. But you made a huge mistake. And you said some really terrible things."
I nod and Jimin turns to me. He sighs and says, "You want to know the real reason why she hasn't been seeing you much lately? It wasn't because she was spending all her time with her friends, especially Dohyun." I ask, "Huh?? Why then? Then that means she lied to me."Jimin takes a deep breath and says, "Uhh, Min Jee didn't want me to tell anyone, especially you. But uhh...she actually spent all her time at SM Entertainment. She had become a trainee there again."
I ask, "Why couldn't she just tell me?" Jimin says, "Because you'd try to help her somehow or use your connections to get her to debut." I say, "Exactly, so she doesn't have to try so hard." Jimin says, "Exactly. And that's not what she wanted either. She wanted to achieve something herself. She didn't feel good enough for you, and besides, she thought that if she was an idol, there would be fewer haters when you were together than if she was just your fan."
I say, "But that's absurd." Jimin says, "Hyung, I understand her. I understand why she acted the way she did." I nod, and then I ask, "But if she's a trainee, why is she abroad?" Jimin pauses and looks down. Then he quietly replies, "Well. First of all, she wanted to get away from...this area, where..."
I finish his sentence, "Where I am. I understand. Is there another reason?" Jimin nods and says, "Well, she...fell during practice. She fell really bad...and she hurt her leg. So she went off to get treatment. She's waiting for the results back from the tests and X-rays and doctor's visits."My hand goes over my mouth in shock. I ask, "How long ago was that?" Jimin replies, "A couple of days ago." Suddenly, someone starts calling Jimin on FaceTime. He pulls out his phone and looks at the caller. Then he looks up and says, "It's Min Jee." He stands up and walks into another room.
