Chapter Eight

And I'll be fine, you'll be fine

Is this fine? I'm not fine

"When are you coming home anyways? I haven't seen my nephew for over a month and it's driving me crazy. Honestly Alex, I think you and I are the only sane ones in this family." Jonah says on the other end of the phone as I watched E.J. and Oliver play over by the lake. I hadn't felt very good this morning, so Oliver had taken E.J. out to play while I took a nap. Jonah had just barely called about ten minutes ago and he was the sole reason why I was even awake.

"I don't know, Oliver and E.J. are having fun and they've been bonding a lot since we got here. I'd feel bad if I took E.J. back home and left Oliver behind... It's not like there's much happening at home that requires me being there. And to be fair Jo, no one in our family is sane." I finished with a soft chuckle, shaking my head a little before walking out onto the porch of the cabin. Oliver looked up at the sound of the door closing, waving a little as he sees me.

"You should let me come visit then cause I'm going crazy. All Mum has talked about since you left is how he misses having a baby around the house. I'm pretty sure he's gonna get pregnant or something just to piss Dad off. Jemma hasn't been home to help me through the craziness and Audrey won't even talk to me because apparently "I'm not cool enough" or something. Don't even get me started on Aiden and Jaiden, they're freaking devils. You're the only one who treats me like I'm an adult, so please... Let me visit you." Jonah finishes and a soft smile covers my face. I had to admit that I missed my little brother, hell I missed my whole family.

"I'll have to talk to Oliver, but I'm sure it won't be a problem. If you can convince Mum and Dad to let you come though... That's a different story, I don't think they've let you out of their sights since you were three."

"They act like it was my fault I got kidnapped. I mean for Christ sake, I may be blind but I'm more than capable to take care of myself. Anyways, I'll talk to Dad... He'll probably be easier to convince than Mum. Tell Eli I said hi."

"Alright, call me if you convinced him. Love you Jo."

"Love you too." Jonah said before hanging up the phone. I sighed as I put my phone on the banister, smiling a little as I continued to watch Oliver play with E.J. It wasn't long before I walked down to the shore, sitting down next to Oliver as E.J. splashed around.

"Who was that?" Oliver asked, keeping a mindful eye on E.J., occasionally E.J. would look at Oliver with a rather large grin and he would return it full force. It was pretty cute to watch.

"Jonah. He's going  little crazy without E.J. and I there to keep him company."

"Well he's more than welcome to come visit us for a while."

"I figured he could, he's just gotta convince our dad to let him come. They're a little overprotective of him." I said quietly, resting my head on Oliver's shoulder. Oliver just hums, the conversation dying as we both watch E.J.

"Da." E.J. giggled, smiling a toothless grin at Oliver who returned it with a grin of his own. This continued for about an hour before E.J. got tired, his splashing and giggle fading as he lays his head onto Oliver's leg. Together we all walked back to the cabin, Oliver holding E.J. while I held his other hand.

"How about you get him changed into something else and I'll make lunch." Oliver says quietly, kissing the top of E.J.'s head before passing him over to me. I smiled softly before walking down to our bedroom where all of E.J.'s stuff was at. I grabbed his bag off the floor, placing it on top of the bed before laying E.J. down as well. He smiled up at me as I slid off his swim bottoms and he continued to watch me as I put on his diaper. I returned his smile, blowing a raspberry onto his little tummy which made him burst into a fit of giggles. It didn't take long to dress E.J. and it didn't take Oliver very long to make lunch. I walked into the kitchen with E.J. resting his head against my shoulder. Oliver was just placing a plate onto the table, smiling at us as we walked in.

"You didn't put him down for the nap?" Oliver asks and I shake my head.

"No, I don't think he'll go down for one yet. Maybe after lunch he will." I said, sitting down and moving E.J. so he was sitting down on my lap and against my chest. E.J. was pretty good at sitting up by himself, but sometimes he needed a little help with staying where he was supposed to.

"Alright, if you think so." Oliver says quietly, kissing my cheek softly before kissing E.J.'s. E.J. giggled softly before trying to grab Oliver's face. Oliver pulled away at that though, shaking his head a little before sitting down next to me. We ate quietly and once we were done E.J. was already falling asleep on my chest. I smiled down softly at him before carrying him to Oliver and I's room. Normally I would just place him in his little makeshift crib, but I also felt like taking a small nap. So with E.J. pressed against my chest, I climbed into the bed and closed my eyes.
