Chapter Thirty-Two
First you get hurt, then you feel sorry
"Can we talk?" Oliver asks as soon as we walk out of the hospital. Jonah was trailing behind us, typing away on his phone as he paid no mind to Oliver and myself. I bite down on my bottom lip softly before nodding, knowing that eventually we were going to go through this. The past two or so weeks Oliver and I hadn't really talked to each other, he kept ignoring my calls and I kept avoiding the topic. It wasn't exactly something that either of us wanted to talk about... but it was getting out of hand and it needed to be taken care of.
"I'm sorry for leaving."
"I'm sorry I made you."
"You didn't make me leave, I chose to. I didn't leave because of you, I left because I needed to think about a few things on my own. You were right about me still being angry, but I realized it was stupid to stay hung up on something that was in the past. I know that you would've told me about the new baby on your own time, and I'm sorry I didn't take that news the way you wanted me to. I'm also sorry for being a jealous prick. I love you Alex, and I don't want to lose you or our boys okay?" Oliver says quietly, looking into my eyes as I smile at him softly.
"I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. I don't want to lose you either, but I'm always constantly worried you're going to walk out that door and not come back. I know it's stupid to think that because you wouldn't do that to me... I love you more than anything and it terrifies me sometimes cause you really could just walk away, you know?"
"I know, but you need to believe me when I say I'm not going to do that. You and Eli are my family and I don't walk away from my family."
"Does that mean you're coming home today?"
"Do you want me to?"
"I never wanted you to leave in the first place." Oliver smiles at that, pulling me closer to him so he can press his lips softly against mine. It only lasted a few seconds before Jonah let out a gagging noise, earning a giggle for myself as I pulled away.
"Please leave the procreating in the bedroom. I don't need to see that shit."
--------
"Mine. Da. Mine." Eli screeches the moment that Oliver and I walk into my parents house. He crawls over to us, pulling himself up into a stand position using Oliver's leg. Oliver bends down and picks Eli up at that, his smile real and genuine which was always a good look on him. I really missed seeing Oliver's smile.
"Baby boy." Oliver coos back, kissing Eli's cheeks before putting the baby on his hip. Oliver turns to look at me, his smile growing a littler larger before kissing me on the cheek too. He wraps his free arm around my waist before pulling a face at Eli.
"Do you need to get your stuff?" He asks, still giving Eli all his attention.
"Yeah, I can go get it myself though. He's really missed you." I said back, kissing Eli's cheek myself before leaving the two of them in the front room with my parents and Jonah. It didn't take me long to get all of my stuff, mainly due to the fact that I never officially unpacked it all. Eli's stuff took a little longer though, his toys were scattered all over the room and house.
"Alex! Quick you need to come see this!" Oliver yells from downstairs. I panicked a little at that, dropping almost everything on the floor that I had been carrying as I rushed downstairs. I was gasping a little as I had ran there and running wasn't exactly my strong suit. I calmed down though when I saw that everyone was okay. Everyone was smiling like fools and I didn't get why.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice still a little shaky. Oliver was grinning for ear to ear as he looked at me from his spot on the ground. I gave him a curious look when he pointed over at Eli who was sitting in front of my dad who was on the couch.
"Just watch. Eli, come to Daddy." Oliver coos, gesturing for Eli to come towards him from his spot over by my dad. Eli giggles a little before standing up, gripping tightly onto Dad's leg as he does so. I watched in amazement as Eli lets go of Dad's leg and slowly moves on of his feet forward. This was the first time Eli had actually attempted to walk, or at least what I had seen anyways. His little grin grows as Oliver continues to encourage him and we all hold our breath as Eli takes his next step. It takes him a few minutes, but he eventually makes it over to Oliver. Everyone in the room burst into cheers, clapping their hands together as Eli lets out a fit of giggles. I couldn't help the bright smile on my face, even though inside my heart was breaking a little.
My little bear was growing up and I wasn't ready for that.
I don't think I'll ever be ready.
-------------------------------------
Hooray for a new updatttte
And it didn't take me two months this time!
BUT ELI FINALLY STARTED TO WALK. OMG. SUCH A CUTE BABY.
Anyways, a few of you have expressed interest in me writing an A.J. and Oliver oneshot on like how their relationship started and how their families reacted when they found and stuff. I'll be writing one, but it's probably going to be after this story is over.
I feel like this story probably has about 5 to 8 chapters left. It just depends haha.
So yeah.
