Chapter Twenty-Nine

what good is a love song without the love

"Are you sure this is going to be fun? I've heard that concerts can get really crazy sometimes, especially with the type of music Oliver plays. I mean, it's screamo." Jonah says in the passenger seat as I drove to the small concert venue that Oliver was playing at for the night. I hadn't seen him for two days now and I was really hoping that if I went to his concert tonight... He'd at least talk to me. I felt terrible for what happened the other night, I had tried to fix it.... but he hadn't really given me the chance... So this was my chance.

"It's not screamo." I sighed, shaking my head at my brother as he continued to talk.

"They scream." Jonah points out, earning an eye roll from me.

"It's borderline screamo."

"There's no such thing."

"Yes there is. You're just not used to the more intense stuff. You're used to bubble gum pop."

"Bitch please, you don't even want to know what I listen to."

"Oh I know, I heard you singing along to Wrecking Ball this morning."

"I was not."

"Don't deny it JoJo."

"I don't even like that song."

"Yes you do."

"No I don't. Take me home if you're going to be a jerk." Jonah is now pouting, which in turn just made me roll my eyes again. He was a bit too dramatic, a bit too much like our dad.

"Whatever, we're here." I said, pulling into the parking lot and turning off the car. Jonah lets out a dramatic sigh before getting out of the car. He waits patiently for me to get Eli out of the back seat, the baby nearly asleep. I felt a little bad waking him up, but I knew that Oliver was at least missing Eli... Together we walked to the back door where one of the security guards stood. The one standing by the door was named Issac and he'd been on Oliver's previous tour.

"Well if it isn't the boyfriend and my favorite baby!" Issac practically coos, reaching for Eli who cuddled closer to me. Issac laughs at that before leading us inside. He got Eli a small pair of muffling headphones the moment we walked in, smiling at Eli who once again just cuddled closer to me. Issac lead us to the stage door, opening it up to reveal the crowd. The screams were almost deafening and I was glad we had gotten Eli's headphones earlier. Jonah's eyes widened when he saw how many people were there, a shocked expression on his face.

"Do you want help getting to the front?" Issac shouts over the noise. I shook my head, already knowing how to push and shove my way through crowds. We were close enough to where it wouldn't be that much of a problem.

"Thanks for your help Issac!" I shouted back before grabbing Jonah's hand. I dragged him through crowd, eventually finding a spot that I was satisfied with.

"Are concerts always this crowded?" Jonah shouts, making me laugh as I nodded.

"They're worth it though. Oliver is absolutely amazing, the whole band it." I yelled back, earning a nod from Jonah. I waited patiently for the concert to start, making conversation with Eli who was looking around the room curiously. Jonah seemed a little distracted but I was sure it was due to the whole new experience.

"You're gonna have to tell me who's who, all I know is Oliver." Jonah says before the concert starts. I nodded a little, trying not to laugh when Jonah gripped my arm in terror when the lights went off. Eli let out a small squeak , and I had to laugh at that. He was too cute for his own good. Eli looks at the stage with wide eyes when a spotlight turned on, illuminating a microphone. I could see only three of the guys on the stage, instantly knowing who was who by where they stood. A steady strum of a guitar fills the venue and everything is absolutely silent except for that. Oliver walks onto the stage, with his guitar in his hands as he walks to his microphone. I didn't recognize the melody so this was probably one of their new songs.

"All along it was a fever, a cold sweat hot-headed believer. I threw my hands in the air , said "show me something," he said, "if you dare come a little closer." Oliver steps back from the microphone, the light now going to Dean. Dean was the one playing the guitar, a very concentrated look on his before he leans in close to his microphone.

"That's Dean, Oliver's best friend. Zack is the drummer." I said to Jonah quickly, remembering that he wanted me to tell him who was who.

"Round and around and around and around we go. Oh now, tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know," Dean sings softly, taking a step back.

"Not really sure how to feel about it. Something in the way you move. Makes me feel like I can't live without you. It takes me all the way... I want you to stay." Oliver sings softly, his voice echoing through the entire venue. He was looking directly at me as he sings, his eyes connecting with mine.

And that's how I knew this song was about me.

This song was about us.

I would say I'm sorry it took so long to update, but I'm not that sorry tbh haha.

So if you've been reading the Jonah spinoff... This chapter should be a little familiar lol.

Anyways, the song mentioned in the chapter is Stay by Rhianna but it's the Our Last Night version that is more Oliver's sound.

Video is in the multimedia...
