Valerie’s POV:
“We’ll stay here until the girls come back,” Dan said, “Just in case whoever threw this tries something else.” My eyes widened and I glanced up at him. I was seriously freaked out. Who threw the rock?? Eleanor? Derek? A fan with a grudge?
“Not that anything will happen…” Phil said, seeing my panic. He nudged Dan, silently telling him to shut his mouth before he said something stupid. My phone rang from in the kitchen and Dan went to go and get it.
“Hello,” he answered the call, “This is Dan... Dan Howell, who is this?... mhmm… yeah, she’s here…” Dan walked back out into the living room, “You wanna talk to her?... okay, here…” Dan handed my phone over to me and I held it up to my ear.
“Hello?”
“Valerie!” I chuckled at Gemma’s outburst, “Long time no see! Or talk for that matter… Whatcha been up to?”
“Not much,” I responded, “I’ve just been staying in the flat a lot.”
“Well why don’t you get out of the flat for a while?” Gemma asked, “Do something fun!” I sighed.
“I can’t really do that…” I said.
“Why not?” she asked, “It’s easy! All you have to do is stand up, walk over to the door, open it, and step outside.”
“It’s not really that easy anymore,” I said.
“Why not?” Gemma asked again, more serious this time, “Is something wrong?”
“It’s kinda hard to explain over the phone,” I said.
“Then why don’t you explain to me in person?” Gemma suggested, enthusiastic again, “I’ll come and visit you!”
“I don’t see why not,” I said.
“Okay then,” she said, “I’ll be there in a few hours.”
Louis’s POV:
Zayn and I had just gotten back to the hotel and we were getting onto the tour bus to go to the next city on the tour. I pulled out my phone, turned it on, and saw that I had a message from Dan from a couple of hours ago.
From: Danmightactuallybeonfire
You may want to call Valerie, she’s freaking out…
Attached to the text were two pictures, one of a rock with the message “We know where you live, don’t forget that” painted on it. The other was a picture of the broken window the rock must have gone through. I speed walked to the bunks and away from the others. I climbed into my bunk and closed the curtain. I scrolled through my contacts until I got to Valerie’s and I called her.
“Hello?” Valerie answered.
“Hi Val,” I said, “Are you okay? Dan sent some pictures of the rock and what happened in the kitchen.” Valerie sighed.
“I’m okay I guess,” she said, “I cut my foot when I stepped on some of the glass and I’m a little jumpy, but otherwise I’m okay.”
“Would you feel better if I sent those security guards now?” I asked.
“Louis you don’t have to-”
“Yes I do,” I said, “Remember Val, I said I would do anything to keep you safe and that’s exactly what I intend to do.” I heard someone talking on the other end of the call.
“I’ll be right there,” Valerie told them, “I gotta go Louis.”
“Okay,” I said, “I’m still going to send a guard.” She sighed again.
“If you really must…”
“I must.” She chuckled.
“Okay,” she said, “I love you Louis.”
“Love you too Val.”
Valerie’s POV:
I hung up my phone and walked from my room and downstairs. I was about to walk to the door when someone poked my side. I jumped and spun.
“Gemma!” She smiled and laughed.
“Hi Val!” I immediately tackled her in for a hug and she hugged me back. Dan walked into the living room from the kitchen and paused when he saw Gemma. He just stared at her, not moving or saying anything, his mouth agape. Eventually he seemed to snap out of it
“Hi, um, I’m Dan,” he said. Gemma waved at him.
“Gemma, Val’s sister.” Dan smiled and tried leaning against the doorway to the kitchen. And by tried, I mean completely missing the wall and falling to the floor. I snorted and covered my mouth to keep from full out laughing. Gemma however didn’t hold back her laughter.
“Does he always act like this?” she asked.
“Not normally,” I said, shaking my head. Dan stood up and brushed himself off, avoiding eye contact. Phil, who was in the kitchen and had seen everything unfold, walked out into the living room and introduced himself to Gemma.
“Nice to meet you Gemma,” he said, “I’m just going to take Dan out of the room before he embarrasses himself even more.” Gemma nodded and walked over to the sofa.
“What was that all about?” I asked Phil. He laughed before answering.
“He acts awkward like that when he sees a girl that he likes.”
