Valerie’s POV:
I glanced back at Liam, who had unfrozen and was heading back to the kitchen, before I let Danielle into the flat.
“I just thought I’d tell Kiara happy birthday,” Danielle said. She looked around the flat. “Liam’s here,” Danielle stated once he saw Zayn with Perrie and Niall and Kiara trying to get into the kitchen, “Isn’t he?” I nodded and she sighed, “I should probably get going then…” She turned to leave.
“Wait,” I said and she turned back to look at me, “You’re Kiara and Niall’s friend; you might as well stay here for a little bit. Have a piece of cake at least.” Danielle bit her lip.
“I don’t know,” she said, hesitantly.
“You and Liam agreed to be friends right?” I asked and Danielle nodded, “Then you should stay. If it’s still awkward between you two, then you should talk with him.” Danielle nodded before following me into the flat.
“Dani!” Kiara yelled after she saw her. Kiara ran over to her and jumped onto Danielle’s back, “You came!”
“Yeah,” Danielle laughed, “I did. How much sugar have you had?”
“Not much,” Kiara said, “Just the chocolate that was sitting next to the fridge.”
“You mean the chocolate frosting that was supposed to go on the cupcakes?” Harry said, him and Holly walking out of the kitchen, “You and Niall ate the whole thing!”
“What can I say?” Kiara laughed, “We love chocolate!” Kiara climbed off of Danielle’s back and nearly sprinted over to Niall and jumped into his arms. She got like this whenever she had too much sugar and we had gotten used to it. At least she’d be out like a light when she crashed.
While Danielle stayed out in the living room and greeted everyone, I went back into the kitchen, only to find Liam leaning against the counter, staring up at one of the cupboards. I followed his gaze and saw that the cupboard he was staring at was the one where the boys stored their alcohol.
“Liam-”
“Do you think that maybe just one drink would make me forget how much I miss being with her?” Liam asked, interrupting me, “I mean, my other kidney’s healthy now, so it won’t kill me. A couple drinks couldn’t hurt right?”
“Liam, drinking isn’t going to help a thing,” I said, “There are healthier ways to deal with this.” Liam bit his lip and shook his head.
“I still love her,” he said, his voice breaking, “I can’t handle facing her yet, I just can’t.” I sighed as I watched Liam walk over to the cupboard and pull open the door, taking out a bottle of liquor. I walked over to Liam and took the bottle out of his hands.
“I’m not going to watch you tear yourself up over this Liam,” I said, “You need to talk to Danielle.” Liam winced at hearing her name and shook his head.
“I can’t,” he said, before hurrying out of the kitchen. In a few seconds I heard the door open and slam shut. I walked over to the cupboard and put the bottle back.
“Why did Liam just storm out of the flat?” Louis asked as he walked into the kitchen. I turned to look at him as I closed the cupboard doors.
“Because I wouldn’t let him have any liquor,” I said, crossing my arms and looking down at the ground, “He’s still having a hard time dealing with the break up and he wanted to see if having a drink or two would numb the pain.” Louis nodded.
“Well, let’s just hope he doesn’t run into Danielle on his way outside,” Louis said, “Danielle left before Liam did.” I snapped my head up to look up at Louis.
“Are you serious?” Louis nodded and I sighed, rubbing my forehead, “Well, this is Liam we’re talking about. I don’t think he’ll do anything too stupid.” Louis shrugged.
“You do stupid things when you’re running after what you can’t have,” he said.
“Still,” I said, “This is still Liam we’re talking about.” Louis nodded and hesitated before speaking again.
“And he’s wrong about the drinks,” he said, “Having one, two, five, even ten drinks doesn’t numb the pain of a broken heart.”
Liam’s POV:
I made my way to the nearest pub, managing to avoid the attention of paps and fans. I’d asked for the strongest drink the bartender had and within the next hour, I was hammered.
The pub door opened and on instinct I turned to see who it was, not like that did much good for me though. I could barely look at my hand without seeing double, let alone seeing who walked through the door. All I could tell that it was a girl who came in. She looked familiar, with her dark curly hair and dark complexion.
“Liam,” she sighed when she walked up to me, “Are you drunk?”
“No,” I slurred, “I’m not.” She sighed and sat next to me.
“You’d better hope that no paps or fans take any pictures of you like this,” she said, “Otherwise management will have your head.”
“Fuck management!” I said loudly, “I don’t care!” She shook her head… at least I think she did… She motioned for the bartender to get her a drink and things just rolled on from there…
~September 20th, early morning~
I woke up with a killer headache, not knowing where I was or what had happened last night.
From what I could tell, I was in a hotel room… but that’s really all I could tell.
I looked to my right and nearly fell out of the bed I was laying in.
Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit…
I lifted up the covers and my heart sank…
This is not good… not good, not good!
Bits and pieces of last night came back and I groaned, hiding my face in my hands as I realized what had happened.
It had been Danielle in the pub last night, we had both gotten drunk and we had snuck off to what must have been Danielle’s hotel room and hooked up.
