So This back tracks into Izzy's view of what happened while Kali, Kendal, and Chase were gone.
Izzy's POV
Kali, Kendal, and Chase left the house with Kali slung over Chase's shoulder. She deserved a night out and it would definitely do them all some good to get away from the stress for a while. I turned back to Adam.
"You aren't allowed to play with the stove," I scolded.
"Daddy said so," He complained.
"No Daddy didn't," I replied. I picked Adam up and carried him into the living room.
"Now you sit here and don't move. No more trouble making," I said. Adam nodded and sat on the couch beside JJ. He petted our ancient dog and turned his attention to the T.V. I went into the guest bathroom where Jace was scooping wet spaghetti out of the bathtub.
"Why is it that all our children have to be smart? You tell Adam he can't cook on the stove so he figures out the water in here can get really hot too so he cooks in here. Kali and Kendal figured out how to make the car roll away--"
"That one scared the living crap out of me," I said, kneeling beside him and helping.
"You have to admit it was smart. I would never have thought to tie a robe around the shifter and pull it from the outside. Especially not at five years old." Jace said.
"I told you they were evil geniuses," I said, tossing a big blob of spagghetti into the garbage.
"Jack's was by far the best," Jace laughed.
"That was the worst to clean up," I complained.
"Who knew baking powder, vinegar, and chocolate cake mix could make that big of a mess," Jace said.
"You didn't have to clean the chocolate off the walls," I groaned.
"You should have let him lick the spoon," Jace laughed. I dropped the spaghetti in my hand into the garbage and listened into the living room. Something wasn't right, it was too quiet out there, the T.V was off. I got up and Jace looked after me quizzically.
"Adam," I called as I stepped into the living room. The door was hanging open and Adam was sitting, smiling on the couch. I shook off the bad feeling and closed the door. A cold hand clamped around my mouth.
"Mommy!" Adam shouted. The person behind me pushed Adam back with their foot and he fell, twisting his arm behind him. He began to scream in pain and clutched his little arm.
"Izzy what's going--" The click of a gun stopped Jace's question. I was still facing the door, but I heard the footsteps of people.
"Mom, Dad, what happened to Adam?" Jack called as he came down the hall. He stopped, apparently seeing out attackers.
"Why hello Jack," The person holding me said.
"Clay," Jack hissed. I wanted fall into the floor and disappear then.
"Brad, go cut the power, Grace you watch those too." Clay ordered over Adam's screaming. I pulled against him trying to reach Adam.
"Make him shut up or I'll blow her brains out!" Clay ordered Jace. Jace moved quickly to Adam with Grace behind him. The lights in the house flickered off. Brad reappeared in the room.
"Shh, Adam, shh," Jace begged, craddling Adam. He continued to scream.
"Shut him up," Clay ordered again, pressing the barrel of the gun harder into my head.
"Adam you have to be quiet," Jace pleaded. "You have to be quiet or Mommy will get hurt." Adam sniffled and continued to whimper. Jace held him carefully, rocking him.
