"You need money? Para saan? I can lend you some, pwede namang hindi mo ibenta ang sasakyan mo—,"
"Ibebenta mo ang sasakyan mo?" napalingon kaming lahat sa nagsalita. It's Tienn.
"I don't need money, Gail. Gusto ko lang ibenta 'yung sasakyan ko." sagot ko kay Gail before gesturing Tienn to sit beside me na agad naman niyang sinunod.
"Have you eaten?" Tienn asked. Umiling ako.
"What do you want? I'll buy!" sabi nito. Umiling akong muli pero tumayo na siya't dirediretso roon sa stalls.
After what happened last time, Tienn and I are consistently talking again but I still don't know what to think or how to properly react.
"What was that?" Gail asked.
"Teka, 'yun 'yung babae ni Ray diba?" Kelon asked.
"His fiancé, Kel." I said.
"Asan ba si Ray?" nagkibit balikat ako sa tanong niya. I haven't seen him, actually.
As if on cue, Ray appeared with Paula. Mukhang seryoso ang pinag-uusapan nila. They just suddenly changed their expressions when they saw us.
"Where have you been? Ang tagal niyo, gutom na kami." Gail said. Kumakain na sila ni Kelon pero pinili kong hintayin sina Ray dahil hindi pa naman ako gutom.
Ray looked at me pero umiwas ako ng tingin. I don't know. After that encounter with him last weekend, I couldn't find myself comfortable with him. Me, secretly loving his fiancé? Damn, foolishness.
"Ikaw be? Aren't you gonna eat?" Paula asked. Umupo ito sa tabi ni Gail.
"Hinintay ko kayo." I said.
"I'll buy us some food." Ray was about to go to the stalls but he stopped on his tracks and smiled. I looked at where he was looking and I felt a pang in my chest when I saw Tienn giving back the same innocent smile.
Ray went near her. He gently gets the tray from Tienn's hands, and kisses her on her cheeks. I saw how Tienn was stunned, and immediately looked at me. Umiwas naman ako ng tingin. Why do I have to see that?
"Why didn't you ask me to buy your food?" Ray asked. And what did I tell her? Ray can seriously be nice. He's a great guy, a gentleman even.
"Okay lang naman, akala ko may class ka pa so I just bought foods para sa'min ni Jhie." Tienn said. Tumango naman si Ray at ibinaba sa lamesa namin ang tray na hawak ni Tienn kanina.
"Yes, down bad, bro!" pang-aasar ni Kelon.
Ray laughs. "Gago, fiancé ko 'to, malamang."
He's really serious about settling down with her—like what he told me. Right, his fiancé. It looks like his playing time is over.
I can feel Tienn looking at me pero hindi ko siya tinitingnan. Nanatili ang tingin ko sa tray na nasa lamesa. Bakit kaya brown ang tray dito sa cafeteria?
"Paula, tara bumili. Bili lang kaming foods." Paalam ni Ray. Hindi ko na nakita pa ang reaksyon ni Tienn but I felt her sit beside me.
Hinila niya ang tray at isa-isang kinuha ang mga pagkaing binili niya.
Naramdaman ko ang kamay niya sa hita ko nang matapos niyang alisin sa tray ang mga pagkain. She's squeezing my thighs. Damn it, Tienn. Stop yourself before I could not stop myself.
