Dear Ling,

How are you?

It feels strange writing to you like this. You're somewhere far away now, and yet sometimes it feels like you're just across the street, about to knock on the door and ask if there's food in the kitchen.

Do you remember the first time we met in Kindergartem? Not the proper introduction but the actual first time. The one you probably wish the universe would erase but silly you, it's something that i would never forget.

I was carrying a ridiculous stack of toys from the playpen. I think those were the days when i am so into Barbie or what not. Anyways, I was trying to look responsible, like a serious kindergarten student who had her life together with my dolls. Then like a freaking superhero, you appeared out of nowhere, walking backwards while arguing with someone, i think it was your cousin who wants to slide all the way down but was prohibited. You turned around at the exact wrong moment and crashed straight into me. Seriously, the audacity.

I never knew toys could fly until then as i watch them all up in the air momentarily. One even slid across the grassy area like it had somewhere important to be.

And you? you just stood there staring at me like I was the one who ran into you.

"Why are you carrying a whole bag of toys, who are you, Santa Claus?" you asked, completely serious.
I was so shocked I forgot to be angry.

Then you crouched down to help pick up the toys, but somehow you managed to make the situation worse by dropping half of them again. It's funny because you already looked cool but you showed at the same time how clumsy you are. At one point you even tried to hand me my own barbie with an arm missing.

I remember thinking, What kind of person is this? But the funniest part was when you finally stood up and said, "So... do you want choco drink as an apology?"

You didn't even wait for my answer as i just looked at you unbelievably. You just started walking and expected me to follow. And for some reason, I did.

I still laugh when I think about it. Out of all the kids in that huge playground, the universe decided our first meeting would involve flying toys, an argument with your cousin, and a very unapologetic stranger who thought choco drinks could fix everything.

I guess... it worked.

Wherever you are now, I hope life is treating you kindly. And if you ever bump into someone and their things go flying, please try not to blame them like you blamed me.
Some habits should probably stay in that playground in our hometown.

Missing you always,

Orm

Dear Ling,

How are you?

I remember you hate gossip and just forced yourself to listen because of me. You always had that look, arms crossed, pretending you didn't care, but somehow you'd still stay until the very end of the story. You'd complain the whole time too.

"This is useless information, Orm."

But if I stopped halfway, you'd say, "Finish it." Really? You have developed a 100% probability at making me exasperated.

So here I am again, telling you something you'd probably roll your eyes at.

You'll be interested to know that your dad finally conceded to buying a dog. Yes, that dad. The same man who used to say, "Dogs belong outside, not inside the house," like it was some kind of unbreakable law.
