"You have got to be kidding me! You're serious?!" You exclaim, smacking his arm.
"I'm serious, stop hitting me!" You laugh, but cease your hitting, instead grabbing his arm. "Show me, show me, show me!!"
He puts the paper down on the counter of the store, unable to hide his prideful smile. "Wow. A 100 on an English exam, Tobio my heart is swelling with joy and happiness."
He chuckles, "It's all thanks to you."
You flash a grin, "I know, otherwise you'd be a big, dumb idiot!"
You watch as the words register in his head, "All I got was big and dumb, and I don't like it."
You and Tobio had a routine since school started, now only two weeks away from prelims you both were super busy. Yet, you still made time for each other. He continued coming in while you worked to keep you company, and you continued to go to his school to watch the practices—despite not being allowed to play anymore—The security guards and front desk ladies all knew you at this point.
As for your team, without Takara and Kitomi it was a little bumpy. The new libero is good, Ren is her name, but she isn't as good as Kitomi was. And without the captain voice and the stability of the team, there was a lot more basic training happening at practice. And also lots of conditioning. Lots and lots of conditioning.
Funnily enough, Mira was granted the captain role this year, which she's still getting used to the responsibility since Takara was captain for so long. You were just glad it wasn't you, you couldn't handle all that pressure without going insane. But you helped Mira as much as you could.
"How's that lib doing?" Tobio asks, eating a beef jerky stick he just bought.
"She's better, finally getting the hang of covering but she's there." You say, leaning forward on the counter. "What about you? How's your new captain handling the stress?"
"Ennoshita is doing well, he has been working very hard to improve." Tobio states analytically, "I think we will be great again this year. As will you."
"Aw shucks, thanks!" You grin, patting his hand that's resting on the counter. He flips it over and places his in it, threading your fingers together.
He'd been initiating contact more, and you weren't..protesting. It was sweet that the usual stoic, unaffectionate guy liked being affectionate with you.
"When are you working next?" He asks, completely casual with his flat expression.
"Friday." He squeezes your hand as you answer, his eyes slightly distant, as if he's planning something.
"Okay." Is all he murmurs. You change the subject hesitantly, and the expression melts away soon after.

Tap, tap, tap, tap....tap
Eddie's head turns toward Oikawa, watching the boy fidget nervously in his spot, his brown eyes glaring at the floor like it personally insulted him.
"What's your deal?" He asks, snapping Tooru out of his gaze. "Nothing. Shut up." He grumbles.
"Bruh. Just speak what's on your mind, it'll make you feel better." Tooru rolls his eyes at his beach partner, turning toward him, "You won't understand."
Eddie shrugs, sitting forward with that magnifying grin of his, "Hit me."
Tooru exhales, running a hand through his hair, "Well prelims are coming up and I'm wondering how Y/N's team is gonna do—if they're gonna go to nationals again...I'm wondering who replaced Kito-chan—their libero, which Kitomi told me her and Y/N are talking again so that's good...And who's their new captain? If the coach chose Mira I'd be shocked."
