"No-no, let me pay. At least for myself." You place your hand on Emma's arm, who simply shakes her head. "I get you're a working woman now, but this is my treat. I suggested it, so I pay."
You were at brunch with your care taker, celebrating that you got the job at the Shimada mart. You started next week and Emma was so happy for you.
"So, how are things with my son?" Your face flushes at the direct question. You have the habit of separating them in your mind so whenever she brings him and you up it takes you off guard.
"Oh you know..fine." You answer vaguely, taking a sip of your tea.
She snorts, "Just fine? That boy is practically glowing." You laugh nervously, "Yeah?"
She nods, "Yep. He is." You can't help but smile to yourself, you were happy to make him happy.
"And so are you honey, you guys compliment each other well."
"Well thank you, and thank you for allowing it." Emma laughs loudly, "If I didn't allow it you guys would probably sneak around—and I quite enjoy the quiet, non-arguing atmosphere of the house." You sweatdrop, "Sorry about that." You say sheepishly.
She shrugs. "Not your fault."
You cast your gaze to the side, "True." You mutter humorously, making her laugh.
"Y'know when he kissed you and the big screen thing zoomed in on you guys—I was not surprised, at all." She says out of the blue, making your eyes shoot to hers, "Not at all? What about Kaido-san?"
She shrugs, "He didn't care. He actually muttered 'atta boy' under his breath." You both giggle, the two males were a lot alike.
Then again, Emma and Tooru were also a lot alike. While Tooru looked like his mom, he also spoke with the same slow, articulate tone whereas Kaidou was more of a swift, jumbled talker. They said Tooru's sister was like that, mind moving faster than her mouth.
"You guys are kind of similar actually." Emma had said once, putting a hand on her chin, "But so different that what is parallel barely matters."
You still couldn't believe you hadn't met her yet, at this point you were scared for the day you did come face to face with the eldest Oikawa child.
Your phone rings a moment later and you pick it up, "Speak of the devil." You nod to Emma, who chuckles. "Hey Tooru, what's up?"
"I've gotta cancel tonight, okay?" He comes right out with the punch line,
no beating around the bush.
"Okay," You answer lightly, "See you at home then later." He's quiet for a moment, "Ok-bye." He says all in one breath, hanging up.
"What happened?" You shrug, placing the phone down. "He cancelled our dinner plans."
Her brow raises inquisitively, "Just like that?" You nod, leaning down to take a sip of tea. You pause before your lips meet the rim of the cup, "..Why? Should I be concerned?"
"No. It was just very quick is all." You take a slow drink from
your cup, murmuring, "I guess it was."

You were happy to get to hang out with Kitomi again, she had been in Tokyo visiting Bokuto for the past week or so and you missed her. This was your third day in a row you were hanging out, you hadn't really seen Tooru but he'd been really busy with Uni stuff so you left him alone.
