Chapter 51: The Intimate Dinner

CLEO'S POV

I just sat on the hut  with the girls when my husband suddenly hug me from behind and kiss my cheek. 

"I'll be out with the others. Sa pool side lang kami" paalam niya sa akin.

Ngumiti ako sa kanya at tumango. Hindi naman niya kailangan magpaalam.

Two weeks after Troy and Maine's wedding, my husband set an intimate dinner for us. Hindi kasi ako nakapunta sa wedding kaya nakipag-dinner na lamang kami sa kanila. 

Matthew chose a private resort for our dinner. 

After the dinner, the boys chose to go by the poolside to have a good time while drinking. We, girls, chose to stay in the hut for chitchat.

Trent came with Alisson and their son Nicholas. Troy's with Maine and Eric came alone.

We talked about our weddings. 

I feel good while recalling the details of my wedding. The three of us have something in common, ang mga wedding namin ay puro surprise ng mga asawa namin.

Most of the time, si Alisson ang nagsasalita. Minsan, OP ako sa kanilang dalawa ni Maine dahil mas malapit naman talaga sila. Isang beses ko pa lang nakakasama si Maine at si Alisson ay ngayon ko lamang naka-bonding.

At first I felt awkward around them. But they are all friendly and accommodating, especially Alisson.

"Wait lang ah. Papatulugin ko lang si Nic sa kwarto" paalam ni Alisson at tumayo na karga ang anak nila ni Trent.

Naiwan kami ni Maine at biglang bumigat ang paligid.

I don't know, but I am not comfortable around her.

When I first saw her, hindi naman ganito, but now, I felt so awkward. 

I can't push the idea that my husband used to love her. She's his first love . He loved her then the way he loves me now.

I can't even look her in the eyes.

When she arrives with her husband, I smiled and congratulated them but I am only looking at Troy. 

"Cleo" she softly called me.

Left without a choice, I look at her.

Her eyes are sparkling as she slowly lowered her gaze on my tummy

"I am excited to see my tummy grows like that" she smiled at me. "Can I touch it?" she asked 

I just stare at her for a while before nodding my head.

She stood up then sit beside me. She caress my tummy.

"What's the gender of the baby?" she asked me while still touching my tummy.

I don't know how should I act around her. Dati naman magaan ako makitungo sa kanya. I don't know what went wrong. Is it because I know she spent a month with my husband? Is it because I know she's once my husband's priority?

Ah! It's because my husband lied to me just to be able to go to her.

I know Matthew went abroad for her. I know that he's lying when he said that he'll be in Singapore for a business convention. He went to Hawaii for Charmaine. I just let it go dahil ayaw ko na pag-awayan namin. 

I don't want to stress myself and I don't want to be disappointed all over again.

Maine look at me when I didn't speak a word.
