Music playing: Hurts so good by Astrid S

(Previously at Stu's café)

Although we were open, not much customers were still coming in. Daisy and I started cleaning some of the furnitures and displays in the café. We were both bored, while Stacey helped out the chef in the kitchen. Spencer came in a few minutes late and started helping out in the back with stock, while Aunt Kera was busy with products and food. I looked at the painting that was in the photo at home. What was so significant about this I wondered, why would they have taken a picture here and why did they still have this picture here.

The door slammed open capturing both Daisy and my attention, it was our Aunty Alo who looked like she could have seen better days.

"Daisy, where is your mother, I need to speak to her it's urgent?",

"Oh, mum !", she called out to the back,

"What is it...Alo what the hell are you doing here, what happened?", Aunt Kera looked at her and at us.

"He's gone, my exe's nephew he's gone missing, I contacted him he's going to be here by tomorrow",

"Oh, my god, who's gone missing?", she asked, grabbing hold of Aunty Alo, my mothers sister. I took in her features, they looked so similar it almost hurt seeing her...let alone like this.

"Lyde, Lyde's gone missing",

Aunty Alo was in a fit of tears, "Someone call the police now !", shouted my Aunt Kera.

(A few minutes later)

We were all standing by the cashier, the 'we are closed' sign was up, and the entire cafe was swamped by police. Meanwhile, we were waiting on news, Aunty Alo was explaining the situation to the police.

"Can you believe it, Lyde our popular-",

"And not to mention most good looking boy of Oaks View High", jumped in Daisy,

"Has gone missing", Stacey finished.

"Who do you think did it?", asked Spencer.

I couldn't help but feel scared that Lyde was missing and someone bad did this to him. I saw the rubbish and excused myself from the gang, I took the rubbish bin to the back, luckily for me it wasn't too dark out.

I noticed the light hadn't yet signalled that it was getting dark out.

When I emptied the contents of the rubbish, I heard a rustling sound. Memories of flashbacks of when Spencer and I were both attacked right here, came flooding back in.

I could feel the sweat on my forehead and back of my neck forming, my heartbeat started to race. The sound by the bushes was getting louder, my legs started to feel limp and I couldnt find myself moving...I froze.

"He-help me", a faint sound of a voice came from the bushes,

I felt confused, okay that can't be a huge animal like last time

Then I saw a figure emerge from the bushes, it was someone covered in scratch marks and blood, they were stammering towards me.

"Please, I-I need help", the voice was low,

When I took in the persons figure properly, it was Lyde.

I quickly hurried over to him and just as he fell, he landed in my arms. You'd think that this would have been a heroic moment, but we both tumbled to the hard floor. Making contact with the gravel, his body was wayy heavier than my own. My small frame could barely hold him up, let alone my own weight.

"H-help, I need help !", I shouted out loudly for someone to hear,

I touched his forehead, he was coming down with a cold or something, I couldn't help but feel protective over him. Like some kind of adrenaline rushed over me, as soon as our skin made contact again, a tingling but warmth ran all over my body, giving me a quick hit of a sort of sandal wood and bush aroma. My mouth and nose responded, sending a kind of goosebumps along the hair on my arms and I was sitting up straighter.

"There you are ! She's over here and oh my god someone is with her !", it was the chef,

(A few minutes later )

Lyde was holstered up into the ambulance, Aunty Alo was in the back and Aunt Kera was ready to follow the ambulance in her truck. She told Daisy, Stacey and I to lock up the shop and go straight home and not to open the house to anyone but to wait for her when she was done. She was going to come back once Lyde's uncle came to the hospital, Aunty Alo's ex husband.

My heart quickened as the closed the ambulance doors, we said our goodbyes to Aunt Kera, the chef said goodbye to us and we headed off home with Spencer.

Spencer left and we all took turns to get changed out of our uniforms from the bathrooms. We decided that because it was the weekend perhaps we could watch a movie, the girls and I would have cheer practice in the afternoon and would finish around the evening same time as Spencer and his practice. But at school they always did morning tea practice. While Spencers was after school practices.

Without any fuss we made ourselves popcorn, ramen and fed Kylo her biscuits. We put on Mulan and it was great to just unwind together. Daisy prepped herself on my shoulder, while Stacey occupied the floor with Kylo.

I awoke to the sound of the door opening, I wiped the sleep from my eyes and found a warm weight pressed on my shoulder. I had a look closely, it was my cousin Daisy. She was sleeping contently on my shoulder, Stacey was sleeping close to Daisy, the door started to open and I could hear keys.

"I'm back",

The lights turned on and it was Aunt Kera, phew I thought.

The girls and I made our seperate ways into our room, while Aunt Kera told us to head to bed and she continued cleaning the lounge for us and told us to leave the mess to her said it gave her something to keep her mind off of things.

Kylo followed me into our room, and I crashed in my warm bed. Recollecting todays events and they felt like a dream, a good dream that wouldn't happen. Which made my whole body begin to slowly and gradually...relax.
