Chapter . Twenty-one

It was that type of day today that we would be visiting Lyde at the hospital, the girls and I made a get well gift for him and also a care package each for Aunty Alo and her ex husband. Although the first time I had met her they were still technically married, however my Aunt Kera said they said they were having trouble so decided to temporarily be separated.

So that meant they were not quite dating and not quite divorced...when we arrived to the hospital wing and then the room of where he was, we came to a halt and saw my aunty Alo and a man kissing briefly.

"Alo", my Aunt Kera called,

"Oh, hi, so sorry", Aunty Alo apologised.

"Well you all know my ex husband John, oh and John I almost had to let you know this is my niece my sisters daughter,  she motioned with her eyes to him.

I slowly got the hint and smiled, she gave me a warm hug and then her ex husband John shook my hand.

"These are for Lyde", said Daisy handing Aunty Alo his gifts, then Stacey handed her a gift each made for her and him. It came in handy being a part of a cafe as we also included some edibles in their care package and in Lyde's get well gift.

 We sat up listening to Aunty Alo talking and occasionally Aunt Kera and John joined in the conversation. Then Aunty Alo started embracing some other people I had not met, they were some of her closest friends from over seas and also some of Lyde and John's family. 

It started to get dark out and we were drinking a warm beverage for what felt like the 8th time, Stacey had offered to get some food and she bought along with her, her boyfriend who went along with her, including my Aunt Kera. Daisy and I stayed by Aunty Alo and her ex husband with Lyde, he was still resting. It was good to know he wouldn't be in ICU, for the mean time he was able to eat and move. 

Aunty Alo excused herself with John, after a while Daisy went to go to the bathroom so it was just me left with Lyde alone.

I watched him breathing normally, which made me feel at ease that he was okay. Then as I saw the moon full from the window. He shot up, which caught me off guard, I was about to call for someone to come and see him.

He started to grunt, "He-help, I need help please", I started to find my voice back. I went close to a panicked Lyde, "Lyde, you are safe, you are in the hospital,  I tried reassuring him.

He grabbed hold of my arm and was breathing way out of sorts, you would think he was having a hard time breathing. Without thinking, I went close to his face, bringing mine close enough to his, my eyes were closed and I could feel his warm breathe on my soft lips.

I connected both our lips and breathed into his mouth softly, giving him as much air from my own lungs. I opened my eyes, and both of our eyes met for a brief moment making me blush, then his eyes quickly flashed yellow, then back to brown.

"I am so sorry, I thought you needed air and-",

"Get out !", he shouted out at me,

I was too shocked to even reply to him, "No, you need someone with you",

Very quickly and very fast, he was standing by the window. "Lyde", I called out to him, but he got distracted by something else, without a second thought. Something was happening to him, becoming scared, I called for help, but my voice wouldn't come out when I needed it. 

"Get out Lili !", something in his voice sounded urgent, as if he was warning me,

"No, you- I am not going anywhere",

He started to convulse inward and I could hear part of his bones breaking, and him grunting, he started breathing out to me, and just like that his eyes were yellow. His eyes weren't leaving mine, "Oh, my god, what even are you?", my brain working quicker than myself,

He smashed the window, "Your worst  n i g h t m a r e", as he stood tall.

We both turned towards the door, as I turned back to where he was, he was gone, making me scream.

I heard a loud howling, was that coming from Lyde? I thought. I went close to the window, ignoring the fact that there was broken glass everywhere.

"Lili, oh, my god where did Lyde go?",

"Oh, my god, where is my cousin?", Daisy came close to me, "Lili are you okay, what happened?", I was too stunned but stared off at where Lyde was howling...can people be wolves? I thought, then I lost consciousness.

(Lyde's POV)

Everything was hot, heavy, like my skin needed to come off, like I needed to release what had been burning inside. I was running as fast as I could towards the howling that was calling me to them, I could tell it was a bunch of people who were also changing like myself. 

I knew it, I was also one, I knew from that one time I caught my father who didn't look human before he and my mother passed away on their trip overseas.

I then transitioned fully, becoming one with my voice in my head. 

"Mate", my eyes opened,

"Lili",

I woke up abruptly, "Easy, easy, you just fainted earlier", I could hear them, as I quickly disappeared from trying to be seen from Lili and her friends from school. But my wolf was going crazy...was it the moon outside calling for me to change, or...was it her and the way we connected with our lips...oh, how her lips touched mine. 

(Lili's POV)

"Look you're safe, we are all here and there's food over here thank goodness, just so you know I waited for you to eat first before I decided to eat too", she said. Gaining consciousness back, I suspected, trying my best not to feel like I was being antagonise and observe her if she was hurt in anyway.

"Hey, we came over as soon as we heard, how is she?",

"Who is that?", 

Then so many people came in, it was Natalia, Spencer, Stacey and her boyfriend, including a few people from our news paper club. They were all here to see if I was okay after fainting. This made me smile, but I quickly remembered about Lyde...he's a wolf and I had a sudden urge to want to prove it.
