Music playing: Rehurehu by Muroki
Natalia and I had a look at the notes and clues and found out that this book belonged to someone else. Daisy filled us in that her dad wrote about what everyone was good at and she also had a picture of what had my mum and both her parents, she also had mentioned that it talked about the Hugo brothers.
I kept wondering what was their connection to these diaries, and what was their connection to my mum and her dad. Did they have something to do with their deaths and did they know anything about it?
Anyway, we found out the next place to where the last diary would be, it would be at the library.
"Shit, there is no way my mum would let us there",
Funny enough we were all in the library with the news paper clan in tow, I realised the painting is in her mothers office, close to the staff room.
While we distracted the mum, Spencer and her went into the staffroom and started checking. A few minutes went by and I was getting really nervous, then Daisy came near me and said "They are taking too long",
Just a few seconds after that, they both appeared, feeling hopeful this book would be my mums book. But they both came over to us, "Nothing, there was literally nothing there, the hole was there but nothing",
"What now guys?",
"Maybe someone took it",
"Why would they take it?",
"Maybe they are looking for these books too, or they don't want us to find where this place is",
"What if we can find that place without the fourth book?",
We put all three books out and started looking through the pages and writing clues down, we also took pictures and everyone started putting marks on the map.
We divided ourselves into two teams to hopefully cover more ground and find out clues much faster than we already were.
Then I saw symbols on all of the books, which I kept thinking about while everyone else was busy. I started to feel a bit faint and excused myself from the team.
"I'll be right back",
"Do you need a buddy?", asked Daisy,
"I can tag along",
"Oh me too",
"No, i'll be right back",
I made my way down the stairs and outside towards the entrance, the fresh air made me able to breathe again.
On the corner of my eye I saw Lyde, walking towards me. I wasn't sure if this was real, or if he was real.
"We need to talk",
"Yes",
"Not here, it's not safe",
The last time we talked, I screamed and he became a...I am not even sure if I knew what to even say about that. He grabbed hold of my arm and made me follow him to his car.
I didn't even find it in my bone to stop him or protest, everything about him just touching me felt somewhat okay, or just right.
"Wait, I need to let them know I'm with you",
"Wait, where are we even going?", I asked,
"We're going to Stu's café it's safer there trust me",
"Okay",
In the car with him, I quickly texted my cousin that I was headed to the cafe with Lyde. She texted me back and said she was on her way with the team.
My Aunt Kera had refused to let me and the girls work this week and said it was so that we had something to think about and that it would also allow us to be safe and not be in trouble, especially with the towns concerns of children being attacked or almost going missing.
Lyde and I arrived to Stu's café and we talked briefly before making our way into the café, he and I sat down and were greeted by Aunt Kera.
She looked at me and at Lyde, and took our orders for us. "He's here", said Lyde. I wasn't sure who he was talking about, but a dark presence or aura was felt as soon as a man came in with two children.
"Lyde, there you are", he said, the guy was tall and huge and his voice spoke with authority and it was deep and low. I started to piece together that this was one of the Hugo brothers.
Another man came in through the main entrance and just on the corner of my eye, I could make out Spencers truck, a little sigh of relief came over me. I hadn't noticed that subconsciously I was holding onto Lyde's hand.
The next man that came in there was a different type of aura about it, for some reason it seemed familiar to me, as if I met him. Then I saw him standing close to the other man and I automatically realised they were both the Hugo brothers.
Aunty Alo came over with her ex/husband and they came to pick Lyde up. Apparently he just had been found, and then he left, he told me he would see me again properly before he left. The Hugo brothers hung around and then they left is well, I couldn't help but notice the second brother watching after me suspiciously.
When the café was closed down, we had a holiday period where it would be closed for the next few days. Aunt Kera said we would be headed to Aunty Alo's for the time being and be staying with them.
So we had packed all of our things that we needed, Staceys boyfriend also tagged along with us and we were now headed to Aunty Alo's place. Something in me was dreading the fact that I would have to hold Lyde accountable for his actual words before he left with Aunty Alo and John yesterday.
The trip felt long but we managed to get there at a good time, the fact we were going to spend our time here made me really think about why finding those books were important, but we lucked out on the fourth.
Natalia had one of them to figure out the clues, and Daisy sent her pictures of them. We figured out the other book belonged to one of the Hugo brothers and I had a hold of that one. But I was more focused on the designs that I saw in each of the books, but focused most of my attention on where I was physically.
