Dorothea was right to feel that something was brewing. She returned to Nott manor expecting only Ezra. Perhaps he'd feel guilty about what he had done to her face, perhaps not. Maybe Clementine would be there and would see, Dorothea wasn't sure if she'd still protect her as fiercely as she used to when he hurt her. It was as if she ceased to be a daughter the second she got married. She became Ezra's problem. But no, her musings on what may happen when she entered the house were completely off. Immediately, she sensed something more was happening.
Severus Snape had met her at the gates, apparently sensing her coming. Dorothea greeted him with a cold glare, not having an ounce of trust for him following seeing him whispering with Camille. Still, he persisted, walking briskly to keep up with her as she headed for the front doors.
"You've heard, I'm sure, there's a mission—" he began. "Rosier," he hissed, when she ignored him. She said nothing still, not remotely interested in anything he could have to say.
"Your chance would be today," Severus said quietly, and the witch wasn't completely sure what he was talking about. Killing Ezra, she presumed. A trap laid out by him and Camille, she was sure. The witch sighed and brushed past the man, frowning further at the sight of her cousin and Ezra hovering in the drawing room. Camille greeted her with a tight smile, scanning her face and allowing her eyes to flit to Ezra's set jaw.
"Hurry up, Dorothea," Camille said. "There's a meeting. In, now."
Sat around a long table in the Nott Manor was, according to her mother, anyone who is anyone. The Dark Lord was at the head, with Severus to his right and Lucius to his left who was sweating a little. There was excited flitters and whispers around the room. Dorothea looked at the table, she sat beside Camille and opposite her mother. Clementine was whispering to Bellatrix hurridley. Going over plans, it sounded like.
The plan was thorough and it made Dorothea's heart fall. A few of them, Dorothea included, would be let into Hogwarts by Draco Malfoy. The boy was to kill Dumbledore. And then, they'd take over the school. It was at this moment that the witch allowed herself to glance at Snape. He had always seemed, to her, to have the utmost respect for the headmaster. Double agent or not. She sighed and Camille gave her a reassuring nudge. Dorothea moved her arm away, wanting nothing to do with the witch.
The room sprung into action immediately, with Clementine grasping Dorothea's arm and pulling her away with Bellatrix and Ezra. Camille lulled behind, waiting for the Dark Lord to apparate and for the room to empty. Now that only she and Severus remained she looked to the man.
"I heard this one's on you," she said casually.
Snape faltered and glared, "what?"
"You made an unbreakable vow."
"How-"
"Harmless, remember?" Camille said, pointing at herself. "Easy to talk to."
"If the boy cannot do it—"
"You know he can't," she replied. "He's a boy. It'll be you."
"I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve, Rosier—"
"Nothing at all, Severus. I'm just wishing you good luck."
He laughed dryly at that and Camille gave him a twisted smile.
"Well, fingers crossed there'll be two deaths tonight," she glanced down at her wristwatch. "We had better get to Hogwarts. You'd better get back."
Dorothea was ushered by her mother down the long hallways and eventually thrown a long, dark cloak by Ezra, who didn't spare her a second glance, instead turning to Camille to fasten hers. The witch glanced to her mother, intrigued at how she would react to Ezra openly prioritising her cousin, but the older witch was chewing her lip, looking to where Bellatrix Lestrange was strolling into the room followed by an anxious looking Narcissa.
