"Watch where you're going shorty!" Mina fires as she bumps into Chaeyoung by the side of the kitchen island.
The latter just tried to grab a gallon of milk from the fridge while Mina attempted to make breakfast for herself.
Chaeyoung stood straight once again and messed with her hair, "Who you calling shorty huh!? May I remind you I own this house! I shouldn't have agreed to the engagement."
Mina chuckles and smirks, "Well, you should've at least made some effort into finding out who your bride-to-be was. I guess you aren't so smart after all."
The latter couldn't help but massage the bridge of her nose, "You don't want this either, but why didn't you fight off your parents?"
"I don't mind. Whatever makes them happy, and I get to mess with you." Mina replied with a grin.
Chaeyoung just shook her head in defeat and grabbed the gallon of milk along with a glass to bring to her room. She rarely wins an argument with Mina, and this wasn't her lucky day either.
Recently, Chaeyoung became the president of her family's multi-million investment company. She got the position 2 years after graduating college as the top of her university, making her the youngest individual to earn such a high position in a short span of time.
But a few months after her promotion, she was told by her parents that their company needs to expand through marriage in such a way that she will be engaged to the daughter of another influential business tycoon.
Ever since Chaeyoung was young, she never went against her parents. She excelled in school and satisfied the acquaintances of her parents with her refined, mature, and insightful personality. She always made her parents proud.
But she did all of those in exchange for her own lifestyle. In ways such as what she wants to do, what hobbies she would like to engage in, what she wants to wear, what she wants to eat, her dating preferences, places where she wants to be during her free days, and the kind of people she socializes with. Her parents were understanding enough to grant her that freedom.
Which is why she became the youngest president in the first place... because she earned it and she fulfills her duties in her own way where her parents don't interfere. The same goes for her engagement. She didn't think twice but agreed with her parents so she could continue her carefree lifestyle.
That's where everything went downhill. When her parents introduced her to her 'bride-to-be' along with the woman's father, deep down, she felt like she jumped right into hell.
For once, she refused to her parents pleading to them that she could be engaged to anyone else but not Mina, pointing out that she never went against their word but this time they had to make an exception.
But it was too late. Everything was arranged already, and they didn't want their good long-term relationship with Mina's family to be ruined.
Instead, Chaeyoung's father made a deal with her that he would make her CEO after 3 years into her marriage with Mina, which was something Chaeyoung would never imagine achieving in at least 5 years into being the president. Chaeyoung finally backed down. She accepted it because for someone as smart and strategic as her, she knew it was worth putting up with Mina if it meant her lifetime achievement in the long run. She could just divorce her later on if she wants to.
When Chaeyoung was a kid, she and her parents always came to visit Kobe, Japan, because they were establishing a huge investment with a big Japanese business tycoon named Makoto Myoui.
So whenever they came to the Myoui family's estate, Chaeyoung's parents would ask her to play with Makoto's daughter, Mina, who was around the same age as her.
