"How can you do this without saying a word? When you fixed the rune on my hand at my place, you weren't even saying a spell when you spoke. Just doing baby talk to what you were working with."
My eyes ripped from the woods I was standing just outside of, focusing on the raised scar of said rune on the back of his hand. It never completely disappeared, meaning the Moon wanted it to stay on his body for what reason.
Orion's voice spooked me. I wasn't working just yet, only assessing.
I shrugged, letting my eyes trail back up until they met those pretty blue ones that were just overflowing with questions.
My mate should have known better than to ask me anything and not expect a request in response.
It was a simple, joking one, but it still threw him off when I said, "Before you ask me anything, you need to tell me how pretty-"
"You look better than pretty. If it weren't so cold out here, I'd have you spread out across the hood of my car. I've been trying to keep my mind busy since you rode out here. I've been harder than I've ever been in my life since you got here. It hurts. I don't know if I want to-"
"Jesus Christ!" Gianni snapped from twenty feet away, throwing his phone into the passenger seat of his truck, voice full of agitation for the first time since I met him, "Use your fucking link!"
Orion didn't even spare him a glance. Adriel was roaming the woods by foot, and was far enough away that he didn't have the luxury of hearing what my gamma did.
I squirmed under the heavy gaze of Orion, shifting From foot to foot as I shoved my hands into the pockets of the white vest I was wearing over the hot pink, skin tight, long sleeved body suit I was wearing.
Gianni was pissed at us... well, really Orion, since I was a perfect angel who practically could do no wrong in my friend's eyes.
Unlike the first time, we were only thirty minutes late for training this morning, but Gianni ran a strict program and was highly agitated when we came in. It was worse when Adriel meandered in ten minutes after him.
Something was going on with my mate. I didn't know what because he kept his link closed, but he'd been all over me- more than usual- since this morning, and when I asked he only said he didn't want to talk about it, then in a tight voice asked not to upset him further by harping on it.
"Sorry, Gianni," I apologized, then looked pointedly at Orion and who said the same.
"It's okay, Luna."
I bit my lip as I stared at my mate, trying not to laugh at the annoyed look on his face when he wasn't recognized. A low growl rumbled up his chest, but completely stopped when I placed my hand over his heart, murmuring, "Stop it."
His jaw was clenched, showing that he was still annoyed, but even that relaxed when I leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
Finally, I chose to answer his question, "According to my case file, having different supernatural races in me amps up my gifts. It's like a magical overload or something. Not all of those professionals believe in Her though, so that's the conclusion they came to. I was damn near a fanatic when I started worshipping her, even as a child and that's why my coven and family thinks I can do what I can with little limitations."
My right hand was still in my pocket, gripping my resurrected glass. It was like a comfort item before I destroyed, I always had it on me when I was working something.
The hesitation I felt because of who let me resurrect that piece wasn't strong enough to stop me from going to Gianni's and grabbing it.
Orion just continued to watch me. I could feel Gianni's eyes on me too.
