My mate was stressing me out in the best way.
My heart fluttered as I stared down at the bouquet of pink roses and lilies speckled with lilac baby's breath. They were wrapped a purple paper that matched the smaller flowers. The bouquet was huge, probably two times larger than my head.I'd just come out of the restroom, and was in his office.
Orion was in his backyard on the phone with Alpha Tobiah. He'd meandered out while I was using the bathroom.
Orion traveled as he spoke on the phone. It didn't make me suspicious of him because I could still hear him, and if I couldn't, he always gave me a recap. He just had to be on the move as he talked.
I followed his voice once I gathered my flowers with hot cheeks and headed to the backyard to meet him.
I stood inside behind the glass sliding door, watching him pace. It still felt wrong being over at his place. Every time I returned I thought about the desperation I'd felt, dying to breathe in the cool fall air and not being able to.
It made me feel like we're were dolls trapped in a dollhouse.
Guinness hopped the fence, an abnormally large black squirrel in his mouth.
Like my boyfriend, Guinny always knew when I was close by. The eye that he could see out of over to me. His tail was waving slowly behind him looked like a charmed snake dancing out of a basket and I watched his ears perk up.
He cocked his head when he recognized me, and though he was yards and yards away from me, having landed about a foot from the tall, wooden fence across Orion's large yard, I could hear the low deep purr of my kitty.
I smiled at my little demanding monster.
Guinness' eyes were no longer on me after that. He trotted his ass over to my mate, primordial pouch swinging before he dropped the squirrel at Orion's feet, and let out an exceptionally loud, "Meow."
Before my very own eyes, Alpha Orion Lachlan had just been initiated into our little clowder.
Guinny meowed again, his eyes all wide as he pawed at Orion's pants. He was waiting to be acknowledged.
My alpha was still on the phone, still speaking to Tobiah, "Yes, we've had about twenty more contact us for refuge in the last two days. Thank you, Guinness," he murmured, picking up the squirrel and letting out a low whistle as he held it up and inspected it, "That's a big one, huh? Come on."
My face screwed up in disgust- I loved my Guinny, but I absolutely refused to touch any corpse that he got me with my bare hands.
Orion headed to a large, old white oak tree. The leaves were only starting to bud, but the long, expansive branches were so thick and dense that they gave off some shade.
"Who's Guinness?" Tobiah asked.
"Mo's cat. I think he's adopted me. He just brought me a huge dead squirrel. He usually brings them for her. She said I've gotta be nice to him if I wanna continue consistently getting a piece of that sweet-"
I gasped, and without a second thought, I was standing behind him, talking loudly over his inappropriate words. I scared the hell out of him- he was used to my gifts, but he'd never seen me teleport.
"ORION RILEY LACHLAN!"
Tobiah was all but cackling on the other end, "Hey lil Luna!"
"Hi Tobiah. Excuse us for a moment- he'll be back in just a second."
"Of course," he chuckled.
I watched the rosy cheeked Orion mute the call with an impish grin on his face.
