Mo sat up in bed- alone and confused.
It was midnight.
Where was Orion?
She checked her phone. There weren't any texts from him.
Her hands met the sheets on the right side of the bed- his side.
It was cold.
Now back to her phone, Mo, still half-asleep, dialed her mate's number, listening to to the phone ring for a minute that seems to stretch into an eternity before being greeted and instructed by the robotic voice telling her to leave a message after the tone.
Guinness lifted his head, watching as Mo yawned, then climbed out of the bed, headed downstairs for a glass of water.
Where are you?
It took him almost two minutes to respond, and he did so while Mo was quenching her sudden midnight thirst. She gulped as she listened to her mate's voice.
I'll be home before sun up. Go back to sleep.
Did something happen?
There was another lapse in the conversation, and even through their psychic link, Mo could hear the agitation in Orion's voice, Yes. Nothing that you need to worry about.
Well, that didn't ease any of Mahogany's worry in the slightest.
Ear piercing screams filled her head for a moment, causing Mo to do the same as the sound spooked her.She whirled around on her heels like the sound came from behind her instead of in her head. Of course, no one was there.
What was that? Who is that?
Go back to sleep Mahogany.
But-
I'll tell you when I come home, Mo. I'm about to start yelling because I'm already pissed, and not at you. I don't wanna do that; so please go back to bed, baby. I'll be back in a few hours.
It was the way that Orion said what he had that had Mo no longer participating in the back and forth as an adversary. He wasn't yelling, and he told her how he felt, and said it in a way that didn't piss his mate off. He was aware. And he didn't want to hurt her feelings.
Okay, She resigned as she put her glass in the sink and made her way to her bed.
Guinness waited until she was in the bed, then meowed loudly, and walked out the room. She heard his light footsteps as he went downstairs. Seconds later, the sound of metal being pushed across the tile kitchen tile floor sounded. He started yelling a moment later, so with a loud groan, Mo got back up and headed back down to feed her monster.
When he watched her grab the empty bowl, Guinny really started to scream, demanding his mother to move quicker. He ran over to her, then behind her, and followed her as she rinsed out his bowl, still meowing loudly.
"I'm goin' Guin Guin, Jesus," she fussed as she emptied the can of food, then listened to him get louder as he waited impatiently for her to pick up the bowl and bring it to his new eating spot.
He'd been back with Mo for maybe five hours and it seemed that he skipped over getting used to the new house and was right at home. Screaming and all.
Once he started to eat, Mo just watched him, shaking her head.
He'd been attached to her since the pet traveler met up with her and Orion at the edge of the Aerin territory, making her carry him with her throughout the house.
Earlier in the night, Guinness had absolutely no interest in Orion, both of them ignoring each other until it was time for bed and the cat watched Orion and Mo climb into bed.
