Lilly Watkins has always been the strong one compared to her twin. That doesn't change when the dead start walking. Taking care of her family during the apocalypse, she never relied on anyone else. When she meets Daryl Dixon, a more temperamental pe...

My hands scrub at my exposed skin, the water turning a slight pinkish color from my own aggression. The memories of the last few weeks are overwhelming, and I sob into the palm of my hand.
"I don't force women to be with me. I could always find another use for you," his words echo in my head.
My eyes squeeze shut. I gave myself away for comfort. I keep telling myself that by doing this, I'm protecting Daryl and our kids. Yet, it's not as though he threatened Daryl's life if I didn't become his wife. I'm incredibly cheap. I'm used.
"Do you need help?" A feminine voice startles me. I look behind me to see Sherry. She's in a similar black dress to the one I wear, her black stilettos making her seem taller than she really is. She's Dwight's wife, or was.
"I think I've got it," I reply, standing up from the tub. I wrap myself in a towel, ignoring the fact that another person has now seen me fully nude. Might as well put me on display at this rate.
"I have some news about Daryl," she starts. "Negan offered him a position."
"I take it that he turned it down."
She nods. "Dwight pleaded with him to accept."
Laughter bubbles up as I slide my short dress on. "Daryl isn't going to commit atrocities like what happened to our friends. He'd rather die."
"You know, there was a time that I'd rather die than do something immoral." She steps in front of me. "And now I'm Negan's wife."
I look away. "Where is Daryl now?"
"He went with Negan to collect things from your group."
Nodding silently, I begin to leave. Sherry grabs my hand, stopping me. "Want to smoke?"
"It won't make us friends," I reply.
"No one here is your friend, Lilly. Remember that."
We head outside. I was never much of a smoker. That was always more of my ex's and Daryl's thing. Still, right now felt like a good time for a cigarette.
"The shame ever go away?"
Sherry laughs humorlessly. "Maybe, who knows?"
"I'll kill him, one day."
"Keep thinking that."
Dwight comes up the stairs, looking between the two of us. "Your old man is an idiot."
"It's alright to have morals." I take a long drag, blowing it back into his scarred face.
"Morals make you dead. Negan won't just hurt him; he'll hurt you, and anything you love, kids, siblings, hell, even your fucking dog."
"Well, it's a good thing I don't have a dog."
"Just as damn stubborn as him," he grumbles, taking a puff from Sherry's cigarette, then storming off.
