"Get in the closet, now!" I mutter to Milly, jumping away from the window

"Get in the closet, now!" I mutter to Milly, jumping away from the window. Multiple men have infiltrated the town. Not many have noticed until it's too late. I only saw from watching out the window anticipating Daryl's and the other's return.

"I have Cash," Milly replies. "Go help the others. Find Ashley and Tiff."

I nod to her. "Thank you."

Thanks to Carol and Daryl, I quickly grabbed the few weapons I got my hands on before slowly heading out the backdoor. I locked the front before leaving, keeping the key in my pocket, before locking the back from the inside and shutting it.

"C'mon," Carol says, startling me. "I've taken a couple down."

"This must be the men Daryl meant. Shit." I reload my gun, following behind her. She stops at a body, taking their hoodie and painting a W on her forehead. I follow suit. We wrap our faces in bandanas.

"We need to get to the armory."

"On it."

We make it in little time, mowing down any enemy that gets in our way. Olivia is stunned to see that it's us when we arrive. Carol quickly shows her what to do with a gun and has her remain to protect the armory. Finally, we are armed to the gills.

We find others like Rosita and Morgan, passing out weapons to them as well. We clear the town, watching as the stragglers run away. My body feels like it's about to collapse as the adrenaline begins to slow.

I let Milly know it's safe before looking for Ashley and Tiff. I find them both holed up with Carl and Enid.

"Thank you for protecting them," I say, patting him on the head.

He gives me a sad smile. "How bad is it?"

I sigh. "It's bad. There'll be a lot to clean up. A lot of bodies."

"I guess it's good you guys were here, with Daryl and my dad gone..."

I nod. "I know. It could've been worse."

I find Carol sitting on the porch, smoking. She offers me one and I take it for once.

"When does the killing end?" she asks, taking a long drag.

"When all the bad people are dead."

"So never."

I chuckle. "Probably not. There'll always be someone out there that wants to take."

Rick arrives later with some of the crew that went out to the quarry. I desperately look for Daryl but I don't see him among the others.

"He's not back yet," Rick tells me, noticing my wandering glance.

"Yet? Or never, Rick? Did you leave him out to die?"

"Shit, Lilly, I'm not Shane," he mutters, rubbing down his face.

"I can't even tell if that's a joke." I stomp out my third cigarette, knowing my lungs are goners anyway once a Walker feasts on them.

Walkers have surrounded the town, freaking out the remaining survivors with their groans and scratching. I spend the next few days cleaning up the town with the others. Rick asks for my help reinforcing the guard tower that took a hit from a semi during the attack.

"He'll be back," Rick reassures, but I'm unsure if he's convincing me or himself.

"I've heard that before," I mutter, drilling in a board.

"Rick! Lilly!" Maggie yells, catching our attention. We look up, noticing balloons in the air. "It's gotta be Glenn."

"Hey, guys..." one of Deanna's men helping us trails off. There's the distinct sound of splitting wood.

"Go!" I shout to the people near us. Rick and I take off running away from the structure, even though it's starting to lean outside the wall. A wave of smoke and dust hit us like a tornado. Rick grabs onto my hand in an attempt to not lose me in the fog. The unmistakable moans of the Walkers echo in the quiet town.

"Go back into your homes!" Rick shouts, shooting at a few that start to get too close.

Carl and Tiff are frozen. "Go, now! Both of you!" I scream at him, jolting him into action. I head back to my own home. I need to get Cash situated on myself like old times.

"It's happened, hasn't it? Again?" Milly says.

"Yes. Get the guns. Where's Ashley?"

"I'm right here," she says, already reloading her gun. "I'll go with Mama.

I babywear Cash, not trusting anyone to have him right now with the chaos and the smoke. I need Daryl right now.

"No, you did this once without him," I remind myself.

We head downstairs and outside. I run almost immediately into Rick. "C'mon, Tiff is inside our place."

I look at his face. "There's something else."

"Deanna got bit."
