While the dogs were busy sniffing around in the thin patch of grass, all of their leashes being held in one of their owner's hands, Jongin's eyes were directed intently and doubtfully at the long, white envelope in his hand. He was still contemplating whether or not he should put it in the mailbox and send another letter off to Kyungsoo, whose address he got thanks to Baekhyun. He wondered what the point was if he already knew what the outcome would be. But some part of him was telling him not to give up and secretly, Jongin didn't want to think that Kyungsoo was really done with him. So, with a sigh, he temporarily put the letter in his other hand and pulled down the small door, sending it sliding down into the darkness.

"Maybe he'll write back this time," he said as he watched the envelope fall in. He bent his legs at the knee to pet Jjangah's head for a moment, making the Jjanggu and Monggu come over to him seconds later so that they could get a little affection from Jongin too. The young male smiled faintly at the sight before elongating his legs again and directing them back down the sidewalk toward home.

Jongin was surprised that he still had anything left to say to Kyungsoo, he realized as he walked back. Most of his sentences were stories of what he had been up to lately, but some of them were things like "How are you?", "Are you happy?", and "I miss you." And as much as he tried to avoid it, Jongin knew that he really did miss Kyungsoo, more than anyone besides him could have possibly known.

When he got back, Jongin wasn't surprised to see that Chanyeol was sitting on his front step. For the past few months, all he and his boyfriend did was try to get Jongin back on the market. They tried everything, from dragging him to clubs to setting him up on blind dates, but no method that came to their minds seemed to phase him. If he did go on one of their set-up dates, he would never call the person the next day. No matter how hard they tried, Baekhyun and Chanyeol just could not get Jongin out of this funk.

"Please don't tell me you're here to set me up with another person," said the younger as he came to a stop in front of him.

"No," Chanyeol said as he stood up, wiping the microscopic pieces of loose gravel off his jeans. "But I am here to give you a pep talk."

Jongin groaned, rolling his eyes as he walked up to his door. "What will it take for you two to leave me be?" he said as he unlocked the door, twisting it open once he heard the click sound. "I'm perfectly fine being alone."

"Bullshit," Chanyeol said, following him inside and shutting the door behind him. "Jongin, you know I totally support you and Kyungsoo being together, but how long are you going to keep pretending that you're okay with him leaving you?"

"He didn't leave me," Jongin mumbled with his back still facing the taller, bending down to set the dogs free from their leashes.

"Well, he isn't here, is he?" Chanyeol said, throwing his arms in the air as Jongin turned around and looked at him lazily. "He didn't even give you a warning. Doesn't that piss you off at least a little bit?"

"Sure, it does, but it's not like I could have stopped him even if he did tell me beforehand," reasoned Jongin as he took his coat and sneakers off. "And I mean, he didn't really have a choice since he has a mother that majored in manipulation. And I think once he realizes that she was only trying to control him, he'll-" Jongin didn't finish that sentence and closed his mouth. He wasn't sure if he was ready to utter those words yet, those words that retained so much hope and risk.

"What?" Chanyeol said as he took a few more steps toward Jongin. "He'll come back?" Jongin just looked at Chanyeol guiltily, clenching his jaw. "You really think he'll come back to you? How stupid are you, Jongin? If he left you so easily, what makes you think that he'll come crawling back just easily?"
