It was a comfortable life for Jongin and Kyungsoo after the fire rings had subsided. They had formed a comfortable schedule and managed to find just enough time to spend together between their jobs and academics. It may not have been eventful for some people, considering everything they had been through in the short time they had known each other, but it was simple and that was how they preferred it. For them, their new life together was the perfect utopia. Nothing and no one had threatened to puncture their love for the next months and life was like living under a rainbow that never faded.
As soon as Kyungsoo unlocked the front door with his key, Jjangah, Monggu, and Jjanggu scurried over to him, the excitement in their panting faces bringing a smile to Kyungsoo's. He adjusted his bag so that it was safely resting on his shoulder before bending down to pet their soft heads. Prior to taking any more actions to unwind, he decided to take them out for a brief stroll up the street and back, seeing as how a majority of their day was spent cooped up inside the apartment.
And indeed the walk was short and he returned with them within ten minutes of leaving. Kyungsoo proceeded to unpack his things from there and he eventually got around to doing a load of laundry and beginning to start dinner. When Jongin walked in, he was happily greeted by his children, who enjoyed jumping up on his legs thinking that they could somehow reach his face. One of his new favorite smells hit his nose when he managed to walk past them, the smell that told him that his love was home. It startled Kyungsoo when Jongin came up behind him and snaked his arms around his waist, so much that he even jumped in the air a little as his heart almost sprang out of his chest.
"Did I scare you?" Jongin asked with a small chortle as he Kyungsoo both turned to face each other.
A little bit, yeah, Kyungsoo said, signing with a sarcastic expression on his face that made Jongin cackle. Did you forget that I can't hear you when you come in? I could have attacked with a knife or something if I didn't know you so well.
"I'm sorry," he said in a slightly drawn-out voice, putting his arms around his boyfriend's waist and tugging his body closer to his. "Next time I'll go for 'Honey, I'm home.'" Kyungsoo giggled at Jongin's response, sarcastically again, allowing Jongin to bend down and peck his lips anyway. "What are you making tonight?" the younger asked as he moved his eyes to the few pots that were steaming on the stove.
It's a surprise, replied Kyungsoo with a satisfied smile. You'll know when it's done.
"I have such a stubborn little boyfriend," Jongin said teasingly, causing Kyungsoo to hit him lightly in response. "I'm kidding. You may be stubborn, but you aren't little. You're just fun-sized."
You're really just asking for it today, Kim, the other male said. Jongin could only laugh; he loved teasing his boyfriend. When he turned around, he saw that he had a message on his answering machine and walked over to the counter to see who it was.
"Hello, Mr. Kim, it's Dr. Yoo calling to remind about your annual dentist appointment tomorrow evening at five," the message said, making Jongin groan loudly and throw his head back; he completely forgot about his dentist appointment. "I'll see you there. Don't be late. Bye."
"Shit," he cursed as the message ended and Kyungsoo, who saw this happen, asked him what it was about. "I have a dentist appointment tomorrow at five," Jongin answered in discontent. "God, I hate the dentist."
Kyungsoo laughed. I can with you and hold your hand if it'll be that awful, he said, giving Jongin a fake empathetic smile. I wouldn't want my baby Jonginnine to get hurt.
"Ha, ha, you think you're so funny, but you aren't," Jongin said with an amused grin as he stepped closer to his now giggling lover. "But then again," he started to add, running his hands down the latter's arms and creating a trail of goosebumps, "we could always continue this funny battle in the bedroom..."
What about dinner? inquired Kyungsoo, even though at that moment with the close proximity of Jongin and the lustful look in his eyes he could care less about food.
"Mm, I think see something I'd much rather have than food right now," Jongin said and Kyungsoo could somehow see the seductiveness fall off of his lips leisurely. But before he could even begin to answer, Jongin turned off the stove and picked the shorter male off the ground, kissing him passionately and making him giggle once again as he carried him off to their bedroom.
************
Kyungsoo did end up accompanying Jongin to the dentist, but since he was just due for his yearly cleaning, he didn't have to go inside and hold his hand. Instead, he just sat out in the waiting room while Jongin was getting his teeth taken care of. There were televisions hanging in two corners of the office, but they were too far away for Kyungsoo to be able to read lips. So, he picked up one of the medical magazines in replacement and started to flip through it. He mostly skimmed over the thin, paper pages, but he would stop and read when he found something that caught his eye.
And that's when he saw it; the ad that would be the beginning of another adventure in his life.
On the page space that the advertisement took up were written surpluses of words that described this new surgery for people with trouble hearing. And for obvious reasons, this caught Kyungsoo's attention. All the words made it seem more complicated than it actually was, Kyungsoo thought as he read over them to try and get a feel for what would happen to a person who was interested in getting it.
By the time the print ended, though, it was the big number indicating the cost that caught his attention. It wasn't a cheap procedure, something that immediately made him reconsider his interest, but as he sat there, he found his mind wandering back to the idea of it. How would it feel to finally be able to hear the sounds of the world around him: cars, birds, movies, the voices of his friends, the voice of Jongin. What he did know for sure was that this wasn't something he could just do on a whim. It required careful thought and deliberation, so for now, he would put it out of his mind.
But he decided to keep it at hand anyway; he might need it someday.
So, he looked around to see if anyone's eyes were on him before turning to the side a bit and ripping the page out as carefully and as quietly as he could. He quickly shut the magazine and set it back on the side table and when he looked up, he saw that Jongin was walking out of the room and toward him with the dentist. Feeling a bit panicked, Kyungsoo folded the paper up and stuffed it in his pocket as he got to his feet, slowly walking over to join his boyfriend as he said goodbye to the dentist.
"You ready, babe?" Jongin said as he took his car keys out of his jacket pocket. Kyungsoo smiled and nodded his head in response, making Jongin smile as well before pressing a light kiss to his temple. Then, he grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers, and headed out to the car, Kyungsoo's free hand, shoving inside of his pocket and making the paper inside of it crinkle.

I think it was fairly obvious that this was going to happen, so I won't say much about it.
I'm tired and I need to make my lunch for tomorrow, so I gotta go! I hope you liked this and please vote and comment if you did! I will be back tomorrow! <3
