Sorry this one took so long to come out guys! Like I said before I still have no intention of leaving this story unfinished, I just haven't had much time lately to write.

On another note, I have a question for you all (please write your answers in the comment section). Which island would you rather have Hiccup be Chief of at the end of the story? Berk? Dragon's Edge? Or maybe some strange combination?

Toothless and I zipped through the afternoon sky, the wind rushing past us as the sun slowly began its descent toward the horizon. The day was already giving way to evening, painting the clouds in warm shades of orange and gold while the ocean below reflected the fading light. It was exactly what I had been waiting for. Not only would the lighting make things harder to see in general, but it would also give Toothless the advantage he needed. Once the sun dropped low enough, the growing shadows would make great cover for his shadow merging camouflage. At least, that was the plan. Drago was moving farther south, and if he continued along the path Eret had described, it was only a matter of time before he stumbled across the Dragon Nest, and I couldn't let that happen. Not when Valka, Cloudjumper, Aria, and all the other dragons were there. The Nest was hidden for a reason, and if Drago discovered it before I could figure out how to stop him, there wouldn't be much anyone could do to keep him from destroying everything inside it, not since the Dragon King was killed. We couldn't take another lose like that, not now! I could feel the already suffocating pressure growing worse, but I couldn't afford to let that happen. I tightened my grip on Toothless's harness.

"We're going to have to make this count, bud."

Toothless gave a quiet rumble beneath me, his wings beating steadily as we continued toward the massive armada ahead. And massive was putting it lightly.

Drago's fleet wasn't something Toothless and I could simply fly into and tear apart. There were more than a hundred ships in the armada, and every one of them had been built for battle. Their hulls were reinforced and treated against dragon fire, their decks were packed with weapons, and there were enough hunters aboard each ship to make taking one alone difficult. Taking on the entire fleet would be suicide. I'd tried. More than once in fact.

The arrangement of the ships was almost always the same, which should have made finding a weakness easier, but so far every opening I'd discovered had ended with Toothless and me being driven away before we could get anywhere near the center.

The armada was divided into three rings. The Inner Ring was the heart of the fleet. Twenty ships formed a near-perfect circle around the center, each one identical in appearance and nearly three times the size of the ships surrounding them. From everything I'd managed to learn during my previous scouting trips, one of those twenty ships carried the captain's quarters. The problem was that I had no idea which one. The Inner Ring also held most of the things Drago couldn't afford to lose. Food stores, valuables, dragon cargo, prisoners, and other supplies were kept there, which meant that getting close to the center was worth the risk. Unfortunately, it also meant getting through two separate layers of protection first.

The Middle Ring consisted of forty ships whose only purpose was to defend the Inner Ring. They didn't carry supplies or prisoners, and they didn't wander very far from their assigned positions. Each one was responsible for protecting a specific ship in the center. That system was what made them so difficult to separate. They didn't chase targets randomly. They followed orders. They held their positions. And whenever one of the Inner Ring ships came under attack, the two ships assigned to protect it immediately closed in. I'd spent hours watching them from a distance, trying to figure out how their movements worked, and every time I thought I'd found an opening, the fleet adjusted around me before I could take advantage of it.
