So our Geography teacher back in 8th Grade, Ms. Medina, as I've said was a complete pushover. No one really payed attention in class. Everyone was mostly like:
Shane: Ooh, look at Natalie...she be lookin' fine...
Dana: I wonder what layer of Hell Shane is going to...
Ariana: What anime should I watch tonight?
Selena: Does my nail polish match my eyeliner?
Ash: Man, I can't wait until we can go outside for some soccer...
And so on, so forth. Classes were mostly her lecturing and no one listening. When she gave tests it got worse. Her tests were the easiest tests known to 8th Grade-kind. People didn't even study for them and still got A's. I hardly studied as well, I mostly got 100% since they were so easy. But what kids started doing was, if they missed a couple marks on their test, they would almost harass Ms. Medina for more marks. They'd say "Please raise my marks, look, look, blah blah blah" and they'd bug her very existence.
They'd be after her life, and it got to the point where they asked for answers DURING THE TEST. Selena was talking to me one day, and rushed out of class afterschool and the end of our conversation to join in the Harassment Assembly for more marks, and tripped over one of Ms. Franz's pots and smashed it to bits. We both ran.
Eventually, Ms. Medina filed a complaint to the principal, and the principal told her to toughen up and stand up for herself. And so Ms. Medina did, and that was a huge mistake, and all of us who were docile and nice to her suffered for it. She became super tough, and her tests became worse than Ms. Franz's, who seemed like every time she gave a student 1% it caused her some sort of INTERNAL PAIN.
That was the end of sweet Medina and the beginning of guilty Selena.
Ms. Franz started accusing the bad kids of breaking the pot, like Jason, and said she'll get to the bottom of it. Of course, there was no evidence so she never was able to get to the bottom of it.
One day I was talking to some kid Hiromi seemed to have a love-hate relationship with, his name is Edward, and Selena runs to me and tells me how guilty she is. I told her if she's so guilty she should confess. Selena refused, saying Ms. Franz would be even angrier.
Every time we had a class with Ms. Franz, which was a lot seeing as she taught 2 prominent subjects, I could see the guilt in Selena's eyes. She was nervous when talking to Ms. Franz, and it only got worse with time instead of better.
Eventually, Selena did the right thing and confessed her wrongdoing to Ms. Franz. Sure she was mad, but she forgave Selena because not only did Selena tell the truth and learn her lesson, Franz knew that the psychological suffering Selena went through when the guilt was eating her alive was enough punishment. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.
The point of my story today is
1) Be nice to teachers. If you got bad marks then it means YOU didn't study enough, not the teacher gave you bad marks for some reason.
2) Clear your conscience. Don't let others suffer for your wrong actions.
